Default My insurance F me over...might get arrested if pulled over

Basically my insurance company screwed up twice when the NYS DMV tried to electronically verify my liability insurance...first time they misspelled my name and the second time they entered the dates on my policies wrong so as of now I am driving both cars uninsured on the DMV record

Today is the second time I received the insurance inquiry from DMV for liability insurance and the first time I replied both electronically and by mail but both times due the errors on the insurance comp. part, they did not go through.

The second notice is dated 6/30 and I am supposed to answer the notice within 10 days but I only received the second letter today. On the letter it states that after 10 days my license (and wife's) will get suspended by law.

I already called and screamed at my insurance rep (not my agent though)...they basically said they are updating my records for the third time but it will take 3 days for it to take effect. Right now I dont know if my plates and licenses are suspended...HOW DO I FIND OUT ONLINE BEING THAT THE DMV OFFICE IS CLOSED?

I need to go pick up the wife and the kid later and I have to drive to work tomorrow...don't want to jinx myself but if I do get pulled over, I assume I will be arrested. All insurance company's rep could tell me was that they are sorry and they really could not do anything if I get arrested

So yeah, F insurance

Now thats some helpful advice.

Sucks man, Hope all of it works itself out. I really dont see the insurance agency's argument they screwed up their fault no angle out of it. I think it might be time to switch agencys.

no it was not my agent but the insurance company system/human error that screwed up...It was not my agent who sent the cancellation notice to DMV (They should not have sent the cancellation because I was staying with the SAME company but with a new policy and I actually have an overlap of converage not lapse)

typically the 3 day line is BS....yes some times it will take that long but in most(majority) cases it will transmit overnight...in these cases and cases where someone is actually arrested or the car is impounded we will get it cleared within the hour...maybe it's just that I know people in Albany(dmv hq) that I talk to on a daily basis cause this happens to, it seems like 500 people a day or it's just normal process(not the case)

cn: next time this happens (hopefully it never will) get the insurance company to call dmv peronally and don't take the bs they sent the electronic transmittal again!

Just wondering if my license gets suspended and/or I get arrested, don't these things stay on your permanent record forever?

I would say a pretty nasty lawsuit might be in order?

a lawsuit you're not going to win. if your liscense/reg get suspended due to this it is simply ckleared up once the info is sent to the dmv. and it doesn't show on your permanent record. worst case scenario: lisc/reg gets suspended...you go to jail and they impound your car...the insurance company as long as they see it wasn't your fault will pay for all damages/bills incurred as long as you get on them with bills/receipts.
