Thumbs down Don't buy tires from these guys...

Mods, if this post is not appropriate here then please feel free to move/delete it. With that said...

I just have to let you guys know about my experience with an eBay merchant selling cheap tires. I know, eBay is a crapshoot but I've never had any horrible experiences buying/selling stuff on there. The seller, limoplusautostore, offers tires at pretty decent prices but they evidently sell stuff they don't even have in stock. Yes, that's right...they're middlemen like most automotive parts vendors these days.

So, long story short...well maybe not THAT short. I ordered tires on June 27th and payed immediately. They claimed shipping times of 3 days to two weeks. No one ever responded to my e-mails about realistic shipping times so I called them. The person I spoke to said that an e-mail with a tracking number would be sent to me when the tires shipped. On July 8th, a few days short of two weeks, I hadn't heard from them. I e-mailed them about the status of my order. My e-mails were ignored so I called and left a message. They e-mailed me back within 24 hours and provided me with a tracking number. The tracking number was invalid. I waited until 7/12, the two week mark, to contact them again. My e-mails and phone calls were ignored so I started hounding the crap out of them on 7/13 with e-mails, faxes and phone calls. Someone finally returned my phone call after I left them a message stating that I was going to leave them negative feedback on eBay. They claimed that the tires shipped out on 7/8 but the "shipping tags fell off" of the tires which resulted in them getting lost. I left them negative feedback anyway since the simple fact was that two weeks had passed and I didn't have the merchandise I paid for. So, they left me negative feedback because I left them negative feedback. I did my part and payed them in a timely manner but they didn't hold up their end of the bargain and I get negative feedback???

So that's my soapbox. If you want to chance it and buy tires from these guys go right ahead. I learned my lesson. If I had to do it all over again I would just buy from tirerack like I usually do. Thanks for listening.

Well you can challenge that negative feedback with the moderator from ebay. Explaining what actually transpired and it can be reverse. File the complain with paypal right away also. Don't wait for them to respond. Goodluck.

Leaving them negative feedback seemed to have gotten the ball rolling. I just checked with DHL and the tires should be here tomorrow. They're giving me a Best Buy gift card and we've both agreed to have the feedback mutually withdrawn. At least the feedback will still be there for people to read. It's kind of funny though, they now leave a comment with each feedback since mine that reads, "Great eBay User. Thank you for reading the shipping description before bidding." It's almost like they're trying to make it look like I'm the idiot for not reading the shipping description. If you read the shipping description in the auction I won you can clearly see that it states a shipping time of 3 days to 2 weeks. They've recently changed that policy. Most of their tire auctions now state shipping times of 3 days to 4 weeks.

Glad you got the issue solved (almost), but it looks like they've had a history of unsatisfied customers, only to be taken care of after action was taken by the buyer. Not a good way to run business - they're not proactive about things. My $.02...

UPDATE:

They never did send me the Best Buy gift card. They obviously make this peace offering to everyone to get their negative feedback withdrawn and then never follow through. I opened a claim with PayPal giving them the option of crediting my PayPal account $25 or sending me the gift card they promised. They of course diputed this. Here's the kicker though. They went and opened an Unpaid Item dispute with eBay in retalliation. Like Hank3 said, they're not proactive about anything...purely reactive. If you read their feedback they only leave feedback after the buyer leaves feedback. If they see that the buyer left them positive feedback then they will leave positive in return. But if someone leaves them a negative feedback they will in turn leave them a negative feedback. They'll make something up to make the buyer look bad. For neutral feedbacks, they don't leave anything in response. What a bunch of smacks!

If you use paypal, there's no OPTION to NOT pay immediately. It's not like a credit card where the charges should come out when the product ships. (I wish it was)

It's payment in full, up front, for the order to be shipped according to the shipping terms on their auction and/or site. No terms listed? You need to contact the seller before going through with the final bid/auction/purchase to see how long it would take... then make your decision is it worth it?

As much as I don't want to side with these guys.... expecting something immediately because you paid by paypal (immediately) is not a valid argument. It's part of the terms of paying by PayPal.

That said, these guys do sound really shady.

Read my soapbox a little closer before you decide to side with them. Terms were listed in the auction and they didn't abide by those terms. I wasn't expecting the tires NOW after I paid. I did expect them to be delivered during the shipping timeframe specified though.
