Default Found another SRP Wagon!

After months of believing I had the only SRP wagon in the Bay Area, I spotted one parked in a lot right around the block from my work (strange eh?) I was wondering if that person happens to be here (although I would probably know if they were already).

The spotting happened over in the buildings behind 101 and San Antonio over by Sun.

There was a guy at the photo-shoot for Drive that had one. There was one on the lot that got sold out from under my nose when I got mine... That was my first choice, but the black one was there, so... I went with it.

Now I wish I had a silver wagon, two accidents and counting... People keep smacking into me. Blah. Seriously never had even a minor accident with the 3 silver cars I had before this one...

Nah, silver cars are supposedly the hardest cars to see at all times of day.

Oh,. I don't have a Silver Wagon (those are a dime a dozen ) I have a Sedona Red Pearl (SRP) Wagon. I've only seen one other one so far in over 4 months. Wagons in general are pretty rare though, there's what 2000 of us?

Is there a wagon out there that is faster than the WRX wagon? There's no S4 wagon is there?

I'm sure there's some old station wagon that someone's dropped a big block V-8 into.

The S4 Avant (Wagon) was released earlier this year in the US I believe. I've only seen one or two driving around though so I'm not sure how many are being brought into the US.

In Europe Audi has the RS4 which is a 350hp version of the wagon! The ultimate grocery hauler.

Then most likely the WRX wagon is the fastest (stock) wagon in the U.S., considering the WRX sedan is faster than the S4 sedan to 60.

Uh the WRX is not faster than the S4, C&D got 5.5 0-60 for the S4 6 speed manual. This car has nearly 30 more hp, and 40 more ft/lbs of tourque, and it developes max tourque from 1875rpm to 3500 rpm. with two smaller turbos the lag is seriously reduced and 2.7 liters instead of 2 helps, it is about 250 pounds heavier, but has the extra power to make up for it. Race and S4 at the strip and youll get spanked ( stock for stock) the S4 Avant is probably the fastest stock wagon in the US. But then again its almost 20K more......thats why I am torn between the 2 right now.

Torn? only if you like the better fit and interior of the Avant. =)
for 20,000 more.. well.. duno. you can do a lot to a WRX wagon for that much cash.

It isn't black, its blue!

Default S4 avant vs WRX wagon

I too was torn over this decision.

The fit and finish on the S4 is nicer for sure, the current Audi interiors are some of the nicest in the industry, and all that low end torque sure is appealing.

But my last couple of German cars (BMW 635, Audi 4000 Q) seemed a lot higher maintenance than my last couple of subies (GL wagon and Forester) and since I was financing the car, and also expect to be spending a lot of time on dirt roads (that S4 is slung pretty low) the WRX won out for me.

I guess -for me anyway, that it just boils down to another 0.4 sec quicker to 60 not being worth another couple hundred bucks a month, and like others have noted, you can get that edge back with some low cost upgrades on the WRX.

Once in a while I do miss a sunroof though, and the 6 speed would be nice......

One thing I do really like about the Audi is its " nuetral " styling, its clean and somewhat timeless, The wrx on the other hand is well, different :-) I think that reliability is probably pretty close on these two, after all I never keep a car longer than the warentee, so I am not concerned with that, but putting 20K that I save into a house would be nice, part of me wants the real quiet plush leather ride, high quality fit and finish. Oh well I want to sell my RS before I get another AWD car so It may be a mute point.
