Default Best Sti Brake Pads

hey, im trying to determine which are the best type of replacement pads for the sti. im on my second set of stock pads, and the problem is they generate too much dust on the rims, i literally clean them daily. i just put on new rotors so i know its the pads. i was considering the project mu pads, but i've read mixed reviews on them, they grab well, but are more dustier than the stock sti's. does anyone know anything more about the hawk, axxis, or carbotech? some help here would be appreciated.

1. Did you search through this forum?

2. There isn't a "best" pad for the STi..some dust less by they still dust more than average.

3. You can help reduce dust build-up on the rims by applying a coat of wax on them.

For tracks, it's usually better to have a dedicated street pad...and also consider dedicated track rotors as well.

While you're going to get tons of opinions on what to get I'll give you probably the only one on what not to get.

Do NOT get porterfield R4S pads for it. Do a search on my name and porterfield on just about any subaru board and you will find my story.

I use Carbotech Bobcats for street, no squeal and minimal dusting.

For track, I use their XP8s (XP9 if you use race tires). Lots of squeal, lots of dust, super fade resistance and compatible with the Bobcats for swapping back and forth.

In particular "my pads make too much dust/noise"

I am happy with the Bobcats but they are not a track pad and they definitely dust more than the OEM WRX pads (not sure about head-to-head dust vs. stock STi pads)

When you say "some track" what does that mean? What is your experience level? Are you willing to swap pads before events?
