With out proof its all hearsay.

I have seen plenty of dyno graphs showing going from TMIC to a FMIC adds a small amount of lag.

That has more to do with the exhaust manifold design and ve of the engine than the "short" intercooler piping

Another thing i realized, as i was contemplating this setup, is that an fmic is always far superior in terms of cooling efficiency due to the greater surface area and increased air flow. And no matter how much you do to avoid heat soak, with a tmic, it's still mounted in a hot engine bay. There are things you can do to battle it, but if you do those things to an fmic, you're even farther ahead. If all i'm losing is 150 rpm over a straight pipe with no i/c at all. (Plus it looks friggin righteous!!!) While this is obviously not breaking news, i think it should be said at this juncture in the discussion.

Nice like to hear it. I ordered a Gimmick motorsports turbo inlet while I have everything off.

I noticed a huge difference in the Delaware summer when I went to a FMIC. Good luck in Tuscon with your TMIC. Heat soak will be a huge challenge, one that I seriously doubt will be solved by heat shields and heat wrap.

if u go with a water to air top mount intercooler then this may help against heat soak.. but obviously a very expensive exercise compared to a standard TMIC..

If you want to keep your AC it is because the Ac belt gets in the way of the alternator.

I did notch the alternator housing a bit but i did it with a dremel and not too proud of how it looks, works though

My contribution, reversed with stock mount turbo. Clocked the turbo to point the compressor towards the passenger side strut tower.

My thread on the build up with more pictures.

The alternator had to be notched to allow room for the belt, it's hard to see since it's on the car but here is the best shot I could get. Hope it helps.
