From the pictures i've seen in the thread it looks like most everyone with a DBW TB rotated it with the motor on top. Did anyone try it with it in the stock position... If so what were the issues encountered?

I have an 05' and from the previous post back in this thread it looks like the 04-05' have a TB that if rotated will not mate up correctly and have a leak. Does anyone know if just the TB can be changed to a newer one and rotated, or does both the intake and TB have to be a newer model for the TB to be rotated?

Thanks,
Ken

i prefer the motor on the left so the butterfly plate still opens top and bottom. something about the butterfly plate opening and favoring the drivers side doesnt sit well with me.

Thanks I called them but the spacer is really expensive. I saw engineerx rotated his 180*, I wonder why people didnt do that and went with rotating it 90*?

Not if you use tall enough manifold spacers.

my contribution so far.

JDM long runner mani. i have GS 8mm spacers, 865mm belt and clocked the power to the alternator. so far i had to make an adaptor because the mani uses 12mm bolts and there spaced out different from the 10mm TB i have (08+ wrx). i used 6061 3/8 plate and hole sawed the big holes , cheap and easy. the 12mm are just holes while the 10mm are drilled and tapped. i also put an angle on the pipe so my TB wouldnt face the hood. i made and mocked everything to fit like the GS 3-port, 3.5 bar MAP, parallel fuel lines, and was able to use one OEM JDM rail and 1 USA rail. the USA rail needed an extention adaptor made also. the brake boost was blocked off and i drilled and tapped a new spot on the drivers side. should be ready to install soon as a get a limp map finished for the 20 items all going on the car at the same time.

So your flopping the alt to the ac spot then too. Pretty sure that tb adapter isnt going to clear over the alt.

It has plenty of room. The spacers raise the mani and the alternator is lowered enough. In fact I'll have more room then just guys that use an adapter which kicked there TB out 1/2".

one of my 4 way RS&SPs (solid mount) was getting rebuilt so I had a 1 way RS&SP (group n mount) in so I could drive it around.

why wouldnt it? no one else has a porblem. just because my TB is more forward it doesnt mean the height is higher. my TB hose will almost touch the alternator so it will be even lower than this.

This mod is something I've been wanting to embark on for about 3 months now ever since I saw it for the first time. My question it this; Where do you run the pipe coming from the cold side or compressor side to the FMIC?

BRZ/FT86/FRS/Subiyota/Toyobaru

It was the car that raced recently at the Nurburgring.

Not to be mean, however, if you have that question, you are not ready for this modification...

Never said I was ready I said I wanted to embark on it. Now can someone actually answer the question. I haven't seen it say where the piping runs.
