Subaru Banner Rims for white '02 WRX

Help me pick out a nice looking gold or white rims and tire set that costs less than $1200? What is your favorite?

Many Rotas would fit under that category. The SubZeros, the Torques, the Revs, and a few others are about $700 leaving $500 for some decent to good tires.

I really like white on white, so how about these combos:

Rota Attacks in White: $650 @ SubyDude (Rota's lightest 17" wheel at about 17 lbs.)

wet-biased max performance summer: 225/45x17 Falken FK451: $95 each shipped @ Discount Tire Direct
or
dry-biased max performance summer: 225/45x17 Hankook RS2 Z212: $105 each shipped @ Discount Tire Direct
or
ultra-high performance summer: 225/45x17 Avon Tech M500: $105 each @ TireRack
or
ultra high-performance all-season: 225/45x17 Pirelli PzeroNero M&S: $126 each @ TireRack

I own the Attack/FK451 combo myself - great in the dry, unreal in the wet, quieter than the RE92's except on overpasses and bridges. Attacks are also available in gold, as are all of the rest of the Rota wheels. Other Rota wheels in white sized to fit the WRX include the Battle and Subzero. I have only seen the white wheels at SubyDude, but both SubyDude and Oakos have lots of gold ones to choose from.

note: if you have a wagon, you may want to consider 215/45x17 size instead - less chance of rubbing on the fender

high performance note: if you are an agressive driver and want a killer summer tire package, Oakos has the 17x8 Torque in gold in stock right now for $700 shipped - run it with 235/40x17 tires. This combo won't fit on a wagon without rolling the fenders, but it should fit fine on a sedan depending upon how much you lower the car with performance springs. The 235/40x17 size is often lighter than the equivalent 225/45x17, wider and lower profile for better grip in the dry and is slightly smaller in diameter so it is "underdriven" - you pick up about a 2% gearing advantage for quicker acceleration.
