Default 17 or 18?

Well im deciding bewteen Rota tarmac 17 or 18 inch wheels. My drive way is a very steep downhill, not worried bout sratching bumper and such, just my skirts and under.

My dad has a 2003 CTS with 18" enkie's, he hits and scrapes something on his under carriage. I dont wanna do that, but i think wrx have a higher stance any way. See i want to get the wheels in the well for a nice look, if i get 17's id have to get springs which then i could possibly hit, 18's i dont think i would.

Oh, and on WRB wrx, silver, bronze or gold for color?

I like 17's but thats just me. IMO 18's are too big, even with brembo's.

You can't go wrong with gold wheels and WRB paint. It's like peanut butter and jelly.

Go with the 17's. 18's = pothole not good. Overall you save money now and down the road with 17's.

^UltimateLurker those are great.

Back on topic I would say 17" in gold. Goes great with WRB paint.

I personally hate Peanut Butter and Jelly (together), but I love Gold or Bronze on WRB.

well, the difference between a 18 anda 17 wont do anything with how high your car sits. so if you get the same OD tire size you wont scrap with a 17, 18 or even a 20.
Shane (I say go with 18s )

My car was noticeably slower accelerating with the 18" GC010Es I had on it. Though turn-in was much quicker with the 18's over the 17's. Which is more important to you? Also don't forget that 18" tires cost a lot more then thier 17" counterparts.

I prefer the way 18's look and turn in, but I can't stand how much slower they make my car feel.

Different bigger wheels shouldn't make the car any lower/higher if you get the right sized tires to go with them.

I have 17" BBS RK's with 225/45-17 Goodyear F1 GSD3's. Love'em... they're great for daily driving. Can't imagine running 18" rims around here due to the crappy road conditions.

you will have to lower your car regardless if u go 17 or 18....it will look like an suv
either way untill u lower it. Get some tanabe gf 210 or prodrive spings, they just
lower the car at 1.3 and 1.5 in the back

Take a look at TireRack. I lucked out and got my BBS RK's on sale for something like $200/ea (I forget the exact amount), there was a rebate on the tires I wanted AND since they shipped from the same warehouse, they mounted and balanced them for free.

That's like: x x =

They also have a nice "see the wheels on your car" java applet that's very helpful.

Torques are a nice wheel.Like you said the roads around you suck, and if you hate that whole lot of nothing on the inside of the wheel like me, its 17's all the way. If you where looking at STi wheels http://www.jdmpartstx.com/ has Ver 7 STi wheels most of the time for decent price IMO they are the hottest (thats why I roll on them )

What are the weight of the rims you have?
As i just bought some, but they are "said" to be a very light rim

The GC101E are the forged Prodrive wheel, they were fairly light by themselves (18-16 lbs maybe), and they were coupled with a T1-S tire (a known light tire). The only reason I can think of that made the car feel slower is that more weight of the wheel/tire combo was further away from the center of the wheel, increasing rotational mass.

All I know is that I'll never go to an 18" wheel again.
