Rallispec used to say that the VF35 came in JDM WRX's. Don't know why they say that. I can't personally say they are wrong, but many others can.

Cronic had a Ver7 RA and a JDM WRX motor. What does he think between the two with response relating to compresion. Both have AVCS. One had 8:1 one had 9:1.

what kinda boost are we limited to with 9to1 CR?? so can i safely say that, with a 8to1, i'll ultimately get more power with mods than a 9to1, considering a higher boost is possible??

cronic, so whats ur view on CR with relation to response?? what is your set up on the 227whp??

finally, can anyone comment on a vf34 usdm vs a jdm ej205 in regards to response??

20# of boost with 8:1 is less energy than 20# of boost with 9:1. The tuning is a bit harder though and you need 2 steps colder plugs or you will get no where. If you get it right you will make more power. Ver8 Sti is 9:1 as well.

hmm...looks like a jdm ej205 will definitely make more power than a usdm with same mods then. btw we get up to 98 octane gas over here!!

www.subaru.co.jp states that the jdm wrxs get something like almost 27-28mpg!! cronic, is yours that efficient??

doesn't ver8 sti come with 8to1 as well?? just checked it out at www.subaru.co.jp

vf34 usdm vs jdm ej205. some opnioins?? what i wanna know is that, if a tuned usdm can match a jdm in response.

Don't forget those numbers are on fuel from japan. And I dont think they run higher boost.

These motors can be had for very cheap, about 2k shipped. My JDM EJ205 had less then 500 miles. However if you want to use AVCS you will need a new ECU thats capable of AVCS. Overall its not a good mod in terms of value. However if you toasted your WRX motor, or are looking for a cheap turbo motor to swap into a n/a car then its a great idea.

Heres a pic of my JDM EJ205 that I'm putting into my 95L.

I drove on this engine and it really strong. It really makes me wonder how the STI gets on in the JDM, since the USDM STI is slow in stock trim.

Also, JDM engines performs better with mods compare to the USDM.

RS_to_WRX_swap, where did you get your engine from?

What was included in the order? Harness, turbo and so on...
