Default '05 Legacy + head unit ?

I posted this question in the Electrical and Lighting forum and got no response. I'm wondering if anyone has sucessfully installed a new head unit in their '05 Legacy. I noticed that the dash bezel appears to have a non-standard opening for the head unit.....doesn't look like a standard DIN slot to me. Any info is greatly appreciated.
I'm considering buying an '05/06 GT and changing the head unit would be a deciding factor.

i don't know, i like the stock hu w/ 6 disc in dash cd. but i did speak w/ my buddy who has a side buz installing stereos and he told me it's be extremely difficult and expensive to do it. i guess the wiring is kinda all put together with the HVAC. so makes it very difficult to do any a/m installs. not to say it can't be done, but it's not like you can swap the HU with something else easily. AFAIK.... i'm no expert, but that's what he told me.

Thanks. That's kinda what I thought, but I wondered if anyone did it or if there was someone making aftermarket bezels with a standard DIN opening.
I'm actually really disappointed by this. I would like to install an AVIC + XM receiver in the Legacy if I get one. The lack of availability of nav in the '06 manual GT Sedan has got me thinking about an Acura TL 6-speed (no AWD) or maybe even RL (no manual tranny). The only car that has everything I want in it is the S4, but that's big $. I love Subaru's drivetrain, but they are just not making a car with all of the stuff I want in it.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
