Hey, I have an '05 RS sedan and was wondering if upgrading to the subaru 20mm sway bar would fit/be worth it

thanks in advance!

Yes it would fit (make sure you get the bushings, too), and yes it would be worth it

Absolutely. Best $80 you'll ever spend.

The only problem is they are harder and harder to come by. If you're talking rear swaybars, 20mm only came on the 2002 and early 2003 WRX Sedan. The STI's have 20mm bars but they won't fit the RS.

If you're talking front swaybar, the 2005RS already has a 20mm front.

How do you figure that? Pretty much every online vendor who is actually a dealer in disguise (www.subaruparts.com, www.subaruwrxparts.com, etc.) have them for $80 or so.

If he's looking for a used bar, you are correct (since they were only on the 02 and early 03 sedans)

nhluhr,

Isn't the front bar 19mm? Think so.

you might be able to get them to go on there - however, the bushings are sized to the swaybar - you want ones which fit.

Yeah, he's right - I have an '02 RS sedan and I just did the WRX 20mm rear swaybar upgrade (big difference - noticeable reduction in body roll), and learned the hard way. The OEM bushings for the RS are way too big (RS bar is puny - 13mm). Just go to your local scooby dealer and order the two rear sway bar bushings from a 2002 WRX sedan - these will fit perfectly.

Oh, and don't forget to lube the crap out of everything before reassembly, or your car will be squeaking like an old rocking chair over every bump... I used Mobil 1 synthetic all purpose grease, but pretty much any heavy duty grease will work.
