Go see Charleston.. one of the oldest cities in the country. It's got some cool ocean front houses painted all these different bright colors and I think an aircraft carrier and submarine you can tour. It's over 2 hours away from Leesville though.

Columbia well.. not much to do there (to my knowledge).. it's pretty much a college town. If you do go there head over to Andy's Deli on 5-points and grab an Andy's Special!

Or if you're up for some tourist-trappy beach action you can head 3-1/2 hours down to Myrtle beach.

Lake Murray is pretty close to Leesville, there's a few small "beaches" there. I worked in the town, I hate to tell you there's nothing there except chicken farms and 2 good BBQ joints. You can go by my old job and drool at all the old classic Fords, mostly Mustangs. There's usually a Shelby or two sitting around the shop. Just ask anyone where the Mustang place is and they'll let you know.

Tubing is a good way to pass the time. I mean the one you drag behind the speedboat.

Not quite sure where you'll be but I second the recommendation on day trip to Charleston--or day trip 2 hrs in the other direction to Asheville NC (probably a little cooler). Beaufort down by GA border is also a really cool old town (and close to Savannah).

If you like nature, the Congaree swamp just outside Columbia is a cool place to explore, though this time of year you'll want to marinate in DEET prior to heading out there. If you like to canoe/kayak there's some great paddling on the Edisto and Pee Dee, or up around Lake Jocassee. (DEET marinade also recommended for the Edisto, and I wouldn't take kayaks on the swampy stretch near Orangeburg as you'll be climbing over lots of blowdowns).

Have a good visit!

Charleston's your best bet unless you want to go to asheville.
columbia sucks and I don't even know where leesville is, and I've lived here all my life, so the boat is about the only thing there is to do there I'm guessing.

Leesville is in the boonies southeast of Columbia towards Orangeburg or something. It's on the bad side of the lake.
