Thumbs up Solberg, 2006 STi and 2005 WRC Pic Thread

"I wonder if he's up ... THERE HE IS!!"

Anyway, just a few of the 80+ pics I took at the autograph session yesterday. Which, as it turns out, was the official US release of the 2006 Impreza.

There was probably 150+ people there, and WRX's were the minority in a sea of STi's. Some very sweet cars and a few really nice GC8's to drool over.

56K choke on this ... I'll post more later tonight, but this should be enough to get the picture thread going.

Nice dude! That was fun. I love having that silver sig on my center console. Looks like the Petter edition STi now.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the Subaru badge on the trunk of the 06, and the clear taillights look like A$$??? The front end is....ok...i guess....

So what are your impressions of the new front end? Does it look as odd in person as it does in pics? Anything else to note about the new car? Any changes to the interior?

WHAT???...Everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess...

I like my Saabaru and the front grille hardly resembles it...try looking at an Alfa Romeo, the guy who designed the new Subarus designed cars for them before coming to Subaru...

I love the grille area, then again I love the look of the 9-2X. Very aircraft like.

The front grill wasn't as disturbing in person. I almost liked it...Not enough to trade up but...
I don't like the tail lights though. Seems unbalanced having the red up top.

Forgot to say in my first post ...

Thanks to Petter Solberg for being gracious enough to take time out of his schedule to sign autographs and talk to us! So, thanks man for signing my visor and owners manual cover!

There is the reason, if Alfa didn't make it big in the US, what makes Subaru think that same designer and his old ideas will work here?

I know Subarus really doesn't design their cars for the looks but still.

Yeah, I'm glad I got my 05 as well. However, I'm diggin' the tail lights. I'll just wait until people start posting here wanting to trade

Now ... if I only had the ambition to do a bug eye front end conversion I'd be set.

What I really really really dislike about the 06 is the foglight area. I hate how the fog covers are supposed to fit in somewhat seamlessly but you can see the line and a disjointed reflection in pictures. Without a defined transition from the fog cover to the rest of the front end, it just looks like a bad patch job to me. That's what finally pushed me to snag my 05 STi before I couldn't get a new one anymore.

That's awesome that you guys got to meet Petter.
