Here is a sweet ride

Might need to spend a little more than 1200 for a good running car.

Try Steamboat Auto Sales in Olympia, he might have something.. 360-866-2886 or www.steamboatautosales.com . Bart is a good guy, good wrench, and straight shooter, have been dealing with him for 10 years. He know his subies well, and goes through them before they are sold.

A friend of mine FREQUENTLY buys old early-80's subarus for >$100 and they run perfect. Actually, a year ago she bought TWO old wagons for $80 at some auction, and just a month ago she bought an 84 wagon for $100. It runs perfect. (had it at the WCSS7 and took it all over on the trails, went like a champ!)

Get a Toyota Tercel. Plain Jane, but get awesome fuel economy and they were cheap when they were new.

Before I got a subie, I also had a '91 Toyota Camry All-trac. Those are pretty darn reliable too and you can find them in the price range your talking about.

I bought mine frome ebay for about $1500, drove it for a year, then traded it in for my Subie.

They gave me $1500 for it as a trade, so it worked pretty well for me.

Scary, very scary thought...

Seriously though, does she work? I.e. have income, can pay bills... we possibly can offer some payment terms on balance if she wanted this.

Either way, good luck with your search

If a GL wagon is out, look into a GL sedan or 3-door coupe, same great durability with much less "mom's car" styling.

Take a look in the USMB.net "market place" and ckeck out craigslist, always a few there.

Edit: Oh, and dont forget the XT and XT/6.

yeah we both have two jobs. not much time to work off a balance, as well as see each other much. as for like, billing the difference, yeah i bet 100% she could do that. she can pay bills a lot better than me...lol. like are you tlaking monthly payment or what?

My GF had a SWEET 95 Taurus! It had a bunch of badass scratches, a totally sick dent on the side and a broken tailight that was totally gangster! The eagle rims and luxury bra really set it off. It lasted for longer than I thought it would but thank god she finally got rid of it. Good luck shopping!
