Rubbing on my Kosei K-1 from Tire Rack

Hi,

I've got an '03 WRX wagon.

I bought 17x7 Kosei K1 TS in light grey from the tire rack - they specify 50 mm offset.

The thread in the beginning of this forum also says 50 mm is optimum.

My old Rota Attacks, 17x7 were 48 mm offset - I ran Bridgestone S0-3 225/45 - 17 and almost never rubbed in the rear.

After putting on the Kosei's, I immediately rubbed on easy cornerning and turning into my driveway. I had a 4 wheel alignment done and I still rub. I bought new S0-3's, 215/45-17 and I rub less, but I still rub daily.

What else can I do? I do notice when looking at the relationship of the tire to the edge of the car, these rims are closer, I am assuming this is the difference in 48 and 50 mm offset....

No, they should be 2mm farther inboard, not closer to the fender. Something's fishy--look on the wheels and make sure they're 50mm offset.

,....betcha got the wrong wheels.....2mm offset difference shouldn't make that big a difference....not visually, anyway....so if you can 'see' it, you likely have the wrong wheels.

Try aligning the rear with more negative camber to bring the wheel closer to the strut.
Then remove the fender rubber.
First make sure where it is rubbing...it may not be the fender.

I had to remove the fender rubber on my old Rota Attacks with 225 - actually I didn't remove it by hand, the wheel did it for me....

I can try another alignment with more negative camber, but how much negative camber can I go before either the car has problems or driving becomes less certain?

Where do I look on the wheels?

Look at the hub mating face, or the inboard side of the rim face. Might also be on a label that may say something like 17x7.0 JJ ET50. Rota Attacks come only in 17x7.5 ET48. If your Koseis are truly ET50, tehn you should not be rubbing on the fender. If you're passing by Fresno, drop by and I can take a look.

how low is your car?

I don't know - I was running V7 pinks, then because of the rubbing I went to Group4 coil overs - I really don't know how low my car is...I think rear is the same but the fronts are lower, never rub in the front...I am on maximum stiffness and I'm tearing my tires apart in the rear.
