Well, after my first Rallycross, one thing was blatantly obvious: I need better tires than RE92's. A lot of people just say to buy new snow tires, but I'm looking a little bit cheaper than that. Any suggestions? Also, what about rims? Can I just go with steelies?

Going to the Maine Forest Rally? Post on Specialstage that you're looking for worn-out rally tires, and I'm sure some of the competitors will sell them to you at the event. Figure out size first.

Yes, I am going to the rally. I thought that might be a good place to find them. How do I determine what size I need? I don't have steel rims yet to put them on, so it's pretty much open. I really don't think that I want to get rally rims, because of the cost.....

For a light, early, non-turbo Impreza? 14/62-15 for Michelins. Whatever's comparable for other brands. Don't make the mistake of getting the huge tires the turbo guys run. They weigh a ton and will suck the horsepower right out of your car.
Mount them on junkyard 15x6 alloys or steelies. |

No. 14 cm wide tread (tread, not section). 62 cm diameter. 15 inch wheel. It's about a 185/65-15 using street tire sizes.

Last Ditch Racing run a 1994 L, and are based in Maine. They may have some old tires and/or rims laying around.
