Yeah, cutting down on the premium ale might help. Also, too much fresh air tends to make them want more of it. Locking them into small confined spaces (like their ideal operating environment) keeps them at their peak of efficency/reliance.

If they start taking up more room, then they get lethargic and EXPECT more freedom.

Yeah, I gotta do something, he was getting pretty rowdy on Saturday, hanging out the back and taking pictures.

What I really want to do is distract him so I can take his camera.

He just needs more gravel in his diet, and he'll be right as rain. Probably just gotten lazy from only having to do minimal weight shifts during commuting.
