Yes i tried searching and all the info i could find was about RS's doing this mod. I have a 99Outback wagon and the brakes are due for a replacement, has any legacy guys done this swap? what kinda money did you spend? worth it?

You have to search just "brake upgrade" as it won't let you do a 2 character search.

Here's the thread.

I've done this upgrade, and it is definately worth it.

Here's the step by step info.

It's been awhile, I can't recall exactly, but I don't think it was very expensive ($300 or less?). If I remember correctly, I got the Rear rotors from E-bay, and I might have got the calipers from a local junkyard.

Miscellaneous parts I needed I got from www.subaruparts.com. They offer a decent discount on new subie parts. Having the part number is critical and the scoobymods link has that information.

spdracer, doing the "H6" swap on 99 and older Legacys requires changing calipers, caliper brackets, rotors, pads, etc. The whole she-bang, unlike on the 98+ Imprezas/WRXs which just require a caliper bracket and rotor swap. This is because the rear caliper design was changed in mid 98 on the Imprezas/Foresters and 2000 on the Legacy/OBs.

Because the entire rear setup needs to the swapped to get to the 290mm rotor, several of us have gone with either the 02+ JDM B4/GT-B or 05 USDM Leg GT rears(basically the same setup) which also uses a vented rear rotor(290x18mm vs 290x10mm.) It is gonna be a little more expensive(unless you buy the parts at the dealer - then its almost the same price,) but something to think about.

And there are a couple more expensive aluminum 2pot options too.
