The thing that sucks is even if I take out a claim against the driver that hit me it will still be out of my pocket if you know what I mean

Well depending on where you got hit at, there might be cameras looking over on the parking lot.

Thats what happened ot my best friend's mom. She got backed into at King Soopers and they have it all on film. Didn't have to pay a dime.

Might want to check on that.

What are those things sticking out where your Legacy badge used to be? My car looks just like yours, when it first happened I was going to paint it but then I was pulling my bike out and the chaing ring scraped another gash in the bumper. I'm just going to wait until the whole car is ghetto and my new hood arrives and paint it ALL! Up to you really but I'd wait for more damage and then paint the whole bumper.

And the crappy part is it left a basket ball size dent in her car. She then proceeded to trade it in for a 01 VR6 jetta.
I just keep telling my self its only paint, its only paint.

Well I am "that guy" who debages everything the day he gets it. I have been tring to find a good badge to cover but have not found anything yet. I was at the auto parts store and saw these "spikes" made by Bell in the license plate section. It is basiclly just a spike with a threded stud and a locking washer on the back side with a nut. I had those chrome (plastic) button type covers but they lasted like 3 weeks in the CO winter.

I am not sure if I like it yet but if I choose to get the bumper repainted I might have the holes welded and get the rear lid painted as well.

I dont know, what do you think? Stupid to have spikes off the back?

I would say that unless you have the cash to cover the body work i wouldn't worry about it too much, unless you like your car to look really sharp-its a bum deal but eh stuff happens

From those photos it appears to be just a little superficial scratching of your uerethane bumper ?

Unless you are up to going the divorce route, I would suggest simply spending $20 on some touchup paint and/or spray paint, and doing your best at hiding the damage. Sure it wont last and it wont be anywhere near perfect... but it will look fine from a glace at 10 feet away, and thats probably good enough.

I've had excellent luck with paintscratch.com's rattle cans(perfect match)...get a can of clearcoat too.

...of course white paint is easier to get away with, but might be worth 50 bucks...even if its not perfect, it'll look decent from a distance.

fibuz

edit: a few more pointers: only mask off different body parts, dont try and mask off part(effected regions) of the bumper...use short and light coats from a a foot away at least separated by some time to allow for drying.

Fibuz,
How was the color match on your grill prior to the grill ejection incident?

Well, I originally used exact color matched paint from paintscratch.com...but naturally ran out and didnt wanna wait a week for another can to come...so I found the closest match from Pep Boys which is why it doesn't match.

...on a side note, I decided to purchase a stock 04 legacy grill which I think is a bit more flattering...should arrive in the next few days...hope it fits.

Use a little touch up paint and try to make a case for the EJ20/STi hybrid swap. I know it is completely unrelated, but now is your chance...

Yes please let us know. oh, what did it cost you? The 03-04 grilles are much nicer than the 00-02 ones.

From what I remember he spent like 100 hours sanding bondo and getting it all nice and smooth. Got a rattle can from paintscratch.com and got it all nice and proper...

Then it fell off

Anyone have a pic of this 03-04 grill I seem to be drawing a blank.

Yeah, good old grille bondo'ing project...it wasn't the actual grille that fell off, but some of the cheap plastic mesh that I attached to it.

But yeah, the grill above(although a poor photo) is what I have now. Installed it yesterday, but haven't had time to really look over it. My initial thought was, "I miss my my fibuz'custom'grille already".

I'll get some pics and make a thread with part numbers etc one of these days.
