Default MY00 BE Stock Alarm Horn

So, I'm sure some of you know of it - honk once when lock, honk twice when unlock.

Is there a way I can turn this off?! Fuse? Wire?

It drives me crazy, and at times can annoy my parents & neighbors. I am a night owl, and tend to come home in the wee hours of the morning. Last thing I need is a complaint over something I can't really handle immediately.

So yeah - how can I turn this off? Is it possible?

I just got my '02 this weekend and I'm kind of wondering the same thing, though admittedly that's one of the few things I haven't searched for

It has to do with holding the buttons down. I forget if it is both at the same time x seconds, or if it is only one for x seconds. Try holding the unlock button down for like 20 seconds to see if that does it, if not, hit both the unlock and lock at the same time for like 20.

It's in the owners manual... as said above, a combo of button press and ignition on off.

I, unfortunatly, cannot put mine into silent mode. My remote is shot to hell, it only works sometimes, so I cannot tell if my car is locked or unlocked.

Also, pretty pointless to even have it. Can't tell if it's locked or unlocked, which doors are locked/unlocked, or anything like that. I need a new one, but $70 for a new remote? That's retarded.

Awesome, Kenda.

Both of my key fobs had no stickers or anything that told me how to do it. I'm glad it was really easy to figure out, though.

Thanks

Anyone know of a way to get it to blink the lights instead of sounding the horn? The horn is annoying but it gives me piece of mind knowing I have locked the doors.

Not sure about you guys, but my bottom corner lights flash whenever I use the button. I'd like it to do JUST that, instead of honking too.

my parking lights blink on mine.
once = locked
twice = unlocked.

I think the horn + lights are toggled (one or the other). I have no desire to go back to the horn, so no, I won't test it out

That's exactly what mine do. They did that previously, too, before I turned the horn off today.

my lights don't flash (and didn't when I still had the horn enabled...) is it an upgraded security thing?

my dome light goes on/off, but that's not terribly useful in the day.

I think that's my guess. Mine is a Limited as well, and the lights have always flashed, horn or no horn.
