Lightbulb Cobb Pro-Tune Day On 8/27/05

Hi guys we are putting together a cobb pro-tune day!. We are flying in expert pro-tuner Jorge Carrillo (Riftswrx on nasioc). Jorge was involved in UTEC development and was part of the initial beta testing and ongoing development of the AccessECU Protuner with Cobb Tuning.

The event will be held at XX Tuning's new state of the art facility in Hartford, CT. All tuning will be done by Jorge and there will be engineer's from Cobb Tuning also on hand that day for you to meet.

When : August 27th, Saturday.

Time : 8:30 am on wards till all cars are done.

Location : XX Tuning, 19 Thomas Street - East Hartford, CT 06108

Cost : $425 per person. This includes the dyno rental time + Jorge's expenses (plane ticket, hotel, etc).

People needed : 5

Each customer will be getting a full 2 hours of Jorge's time to custom tune there individual setups. The benefits of getting custom tuned to your specific mods are several, but here are a few- 1. More power (safely, as off the shelf maps are conservative) 2. Smoother power delivery 3. Improved fuel economy.

The dyno being used is XX's new dynapack dyno. Everyone will receive printouts of there runs along with air/fuel ratio info.

To participate in this event we will need a deposit ASAP as we need to make arrangements for Jorge's plane ticket.

A paypal deposit of $225 is required to : sales@visionaryracing.com . Please note this deposit is Non-Refundable, because of commitements we have to make to Jorge and XX Tuning prior to the event. So please be sure. Along with your paypal payment please include a contact phone number. When you arrive at the event the balance will be due.

Also we will be starting at 8:30am in 2 hour blocks. Please pick a appointment time in 2 hour increments you would like -

8:30-10:30am, etc.

List of participants -

1. VisionaryRacing - deposit paid - 4:30pm
2. Zumble88 - deposit paid - 10:30am
3. GDBJoe - deposit paid - 2:30pm

Too bad my XT is an auto, and it couldn't be setup on the Dynapack, which I've checked with XX Tuning couple weeks back....

If you can get the service manual, or can find the pinout to your TCM it's possible to wire in a manual lockup switch for your torque converter.

If you reference post 18, and post 35 in this thread from several years ago, you can see how we originally figured out the wiring for the WRX 4EAT's. The same will apply to your XT. This will allow your car to effectively work like a 5MT. You'd lock the car in 2nd gear (using your shift lever), and then once you're moving on the dyno, you lock up the converter clutch.

P.S. if you read the entire thread, you can also see how said mod will help you pick up a good 2-3 tenths in the quarter mile.

--------

To digress though. Thanks to Ray, Tony, and Sam for arranging the event. I'm looking forward to working with everyone. Don't hesitate to post here, or PM me with any questions.

Oh man... I am so jealous of you guys. I'd love to have Jorge tune my car, but I have a reunion w/ my college buddies down the shore that weekend.

...plus, I want to wait 'till I get a P&P'd TD04 to replace teh stocker... Jorge - Assuming I get a Deadbolt P&P TD04, do you suggest any accompanying mods (i.e. injectors) to allow for a better tune? I've read something about the possibility of stock injectors going static with the Deadbolt P&P TD04... Should I be concerned? My main goal is drivability... I'm not too concerned with boost or hp-chasing... so I am hoping it shouldn't be a problem. Is there anything you see as necessary though?

Present mods:
Bosal twin dump DP (stock 3rd cat)
STi V7 up-pipe
2.5" Cat-back (Prodrive AB w/ Stromung intermediate pipe)
SAMCO I/C "Y" hose
Cobb Stage 2 re-flash

...so yeah... if Jorge can make a second trip some day, I am in for sure.

I want in too. Is there still an open spot? I've been trying to get on this list for a couple days now, but I was told it was full and had to wait for someone to drop off.

I don't want to Paypal a non-refundable $225 if I'm not going to get a spot.

Thanks.

Edit:
Next time around it could be located closer to you in NJ. There's probably at least a few LegacyGT.com people interested in a Protune within the Tri-state to shore up the numbers.

Weee, I just realized spike826 is already on the list as GDBJoe. I'm #5 then, paypal sent.

Is there any chance I could get a time slot that's not the 1st or last one? I wouldn't normally ask, but I have a 4 hour drive. Thanks.

George

In the case of anti-theft it certainly is simple enough to handle what you want. I simply would need to find out exactly what Cobb does on their anti-theft map (though I have a pretty comfortable idea), and simply modify your tuned map to do the same thing. The worse thing that happens, is that I can simply email you your anti-theft realtime map after, and then you just move it onto your port.

But supplying a realtime version of your tuned base map is a no brainer.

Especially in colder climates, injector maxing is very much a reality. That's not to say it won't work on stockers, you'd just need to limit your airflow around them.

IMO, if that's where you plan on stopping, put pinks in the car. It'll give you a wonderful overhead and put you near a more ideal 80-85% max IDC. Not 95-100%.

GranTourer you have been added. The 8:30 am or 4:30 pm is open. Please let me know which you prefer. Thanks.

Guys we have reached the 5 person quota, however we still need 2 standby people. Standby customers do not need to send a deposit. If you are still interested in joining and during the event someone on the list fails to show, you will be called that day. If you can make it, you will pay then. Thanks.

In reality yes (since the car isn't going anywhere, but I'd rather make you an anti-theft map based on the final map made for you (more for completeness then anything else).
