This is a USDM sti 6spd going into my 2002 wrx.
Somewhere i read, or there was an arguement on different mounts for the transmission would be needed. the rear sti tranny mount went right into the crossmember from the wrx fine. Both the front and rear cross members are wrx original and fit the sti box fine My forgetfulness neglected the starter. Im using the sti clutch and flyhweel that came w/the 6spd and the wrx starter wont even go into the bellhousing, im assuming the sti flyhwheel was bigger than the wrx flywheel. other than that, all went well. I dont have the dccd computer either, im assuming its going to be 35/65 all the time? can u dyno like that? -mikey p.s. holy crap the stock 5spd is light, and like half as wide as the 6spd!

![]() Out of curiosity, where did you get all your components for the swap? I'm looking for a good vendor to get a complete swap set from. |

The 5spd is around 130 lbs, the 6MT is around 205 or so. The starter for the STI is identical to the WRX one, the flywheels are identical in width and tooth count. Sooo... there is something else happening there. |

I'm going to be attempting the same swap this weekend. Do you mind telling me-
What did you do to get over the tailshaft length difference? Did the sti front axles slip straight into the wrx hubs ok? Thanks, |

I am swaping a 04 6MT with female axles and the fronts slide right into my 02 WRX hubs, actually easier than the WRX axles did.
And BTW, the 5MT downpipe will not fit the 6MT unless you modify it.....hello dremel....goodbye brackets. Last edited by phatfil; 02-03-2006 at 02:04 AM. |
