Default Just got AP stage 1, now a choice

Like it says I just installed my AP with stg1 93. Other mod is a blitz nur spec r cat back. The car feels much smoother and pulls a bit harder. Now I can't decide between getting up/dp and going stage 2 orgetting some after market wheels(still running stockers with decent all season tires).
Just curious as to what path everyone else would take.

Thanks.

EDIT: OOPS, sorry forgot to mention, have eibach pro kit

depends on how much $$ you got. You can gut your up and buy a used dp here and you've got stage 2 for less than $200. wheels + tires (even used) are going to cost a lot more than that

Why not have both....

Gut the UP/DP (90% of the performance) cost: free!!!

Buy the wheels. Leave the UP in and when you save money or mod further, switchout the DP. I've run a gutted stocker and a bellmouth, at modest power levels there really is little difference...

AP stage II is fine with a gutted DP

Don't be afraid, gutting the DP is FASTER then gutting the UP...well worth it!

DO BOTH!!!

I am in the same situation and decided to order the up and downpipes. Its already august, so I wouldn't be able to run new wheeels and summer tires very long anyway before I would have to get snows. I assume your in the same situation in Ohio, unless you could get away with some all seasons. Stage 2 is supposed to be a huge gain though.

This was my thinking too, and stage 2 sounds rather fun from what I hear.

Come now... Get some better tires/wheels and your handling will get that much better. Im also assuming that you have some stock re92's on the 16's. Im at stage 2.5 and those stockers arnt cutting it. Saving up for rims and tires.

PSM- Cobb Stage 2- again!

I say finish up the suspension and go with some nice wheels. You bumped up the performance a bit (although I'm REAL happy with stage 1 and noticed a big difference), so I'd balance it out with some handling/looks. I did my front/ rear swaybars, endlinks, STI V7 Struts, pink springs and steering bushings and it's totally changed the handling of the car. Then I went stage 1 and was real happy with the bump in power. Just recently I went with 17" wheels and summer tires and was really surprised how much they sharpened up the handling (sharper turn-in and alot more grip, even over my Pirelli Zero Nero all-seasons), not to mention I love the looks of the new shoes! I'm real happy with the car right now and I'm not in a real hurry to go stage 2 right now (but I can see it in my future... )

option 3:

gut your UP, get a used DP, a rear sway bar, and a custom tune.

i say do UP/DP.

i have no power mods done to my 02 rex, just suspension work. for the last year i've been running on 18" prodrive P1 wheels. i had to take them off a couple weeks ago because one is now bent.

i'm running the factory 16's again. car just feels different to me, actually feels faster and i have a 225 width tire crammed on them so i'm keeping the same width tire as the 18's.

do uppipe/downpipe, go to stg. 2, get good tires, do suspension work, upgrade brakes. car will feel completely different.

No **** it would be faster with the stock rims, Prodrive wheels weigh a ton to begin with and especially 18's.

Some nice lightweight 17" wheels and good sticky tires with a stiff sidewall will improve the handling a bunch, and won't add unsprung weight. Look for something 17 lbs or less and you're good.

I did rims & tires first... I'm not a drag racer, though. If you're happy with the Stage 1 bump, and you like a good *balanced* car, I highly recommend some good wheels and tires for your next mod.

i really can't judge anyone on this because i got 17" SSR GT7s, an AP, and up and down pipes within two months.

i would say go for the up/dp and run stage 2 if you are power hungry or savor the moment, grab some new (LIGHTER) wheels and save stage 2 for next year possibly?

best of luck,
TOM

I voted up/dp

My thoughts are that this way you can wear out your tires first, then you'll have saved up more $$ to buy better tires...

Gut both and get wheels...

Why not have both???

Buy a DP later if you get more $$$....

How is this even a question if you can run a stage 2 for 0 dollars and get wheels too...

2 is better than 1....DO BOTH!!!
