Default 255/50/17 RA-1's fit STi?

I am thinking about moving up to 255/40/17 from 235/40/17 for my next set of RA-1's. Can anyone confirm that this setup will fit on on 04 STi with 17x8.5 SSR Comps and JIC FLTa2's ? (or similar coilover/wheel combination)

thanks

-matt

I have 255/40-17 Pirelli Corsa on 17x8 Rota Torque under my '04 STi. tein Flex, lowered to about 13.75" from center of hub to fender lip. No rubbing.

Cool, yes I've searched but I couldn't find anyone who had 17x8.5 et. 48's.

I thought that it would fit because I have about 1 inch strut clearance and pretty good fender clearance with my 235/40/17 RA-1's, the 255/40 are about .5-.75 inch wider. Thanks for the confirmation.

Thanks for the info... I'm lowered on Zero 2R's about 13.5" from hub to lip. Hopefully in the spring the 255/40-17 Yoks won't rub (with fender rolling that is).

Friend of mine with Zeals (10F/8R) with 255 40 17 Falken RT615's lowered to 14" hub to fender on Rota Torques (17x8 et48) rubs in the rear. We had to roll his fenders.

You probably already know but you will be 8.3 percent slower with this size compared to the stock 17's. tires. At 60mph you will be going 65mph.

what are you talking about? 255/40 has essentially the same diameter as a 225/45.
