Default First Time Shipping Tires - A Few Questions

I'm looking to sell my old rims/tires from my MKIV GTI, (17in OEM "santa monica" rims/factory pilot sports), but before I list them, I wanted to ask about shipping.

How do I request a pickup with UPS or FedEx? Do I request four seperate shipping tags via the their websites, cardboard/tape up each rim/tire and tape the tags on each and request a time for them to pick each package up?

Could someone help me out? It's my first time shipping anything bigger than a shoebox.

Thanks

UPS or Fedex will be really expensive.

Here's a recent thread about this:

You can call any of the courier companies for a pick-up. You can print the labels on-line. I've shipped rims with tires four times now and they cost anywhere between $65 - $80 or so. Granted, I used my company's UPS business account so it's a tad bit cheaper, but that should give you an idea. I'd say anywhere between $75 - $100 depending how far you're shipping them.

I just shipped some tires yesterday. What i did was wrap two tires in one thick plastic bag, taped them up real nice for a total of two heavy bags. I stopped by the UPS Store, dropped the tires off. Cost was about 90 bucks..pretty expensive if you asked me and this was from CO to CA. I theink if you request a pickup, it will be much more expensive.

thanks guys... but one more question. Say you don't bring them to a UPS store, if you go online to print out labels, do you have to weigh these things yourself and then print out the labels?
