Default Summer Tire Help (Searched Already)

I need to get 225/45 -17 Wheels. They will be summer tires only for an 05 WRX... I need a high rating as they will be performance tires, but will not be tracked at all. I was looking at v,z rated tires, but only came up with the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S ... I have searched and found many threads on toyos, bridgestones, michelins, and pirelli's, but I am still wondering about other "summer" tires.. they will be daily driven from the spring to mid-fall... Hopefully not noisy, and good wet traction.. Thanks for the replies!

TireRack is your friend. <== you clicky linky for max peformance summer tires; their survey results aren't perfect but I've found them to be accurate enough.

PZero M+S are NOT summer tires. They are all-season. There is a PZero summer version though. Probably not worth themoney, more like a tuner tire than a real performance tire. Go with Falken Azenis or Kumho MX. Are you looking for high treadwear or do u care?

Do a search for Hankook Ventus RS-2. There's a ton of reviews on here. I just got mine and love them.

Also, the Falken Azenis 215, Kumho Ecsta MX, many other choices...

I searched on tirerack for a while. I will look into all of these suggestions, Tire Thread isnt a big concern i just want to be able to handle Awesome in the DRY/HOT weather, and without slippage in any RAIN conditions. Thanks for the tips, also if any1 else would like to post im open to suggestions. I want the tires to last anywhere from 20,000-35,000 miles.

Check out Azenis ST-115. Decent treadlife and 9/10 the grip of the Azenis RT-215. Azenis RT-215s dont do well in wet weather.

These are a good all around tire with excellent wet traction. I am now giving the Hankook Ventus RS/2's a try! They are harder to find, though, but are a bit cheaper.

Tire Rack's web site should be studied more and you need to get more familiar with tires and thier ratings in general.

That's what I have on my WRX now. Also had a set for my old Z28. They're a good daily-driver summer tire with great wet weather traction. I'd say the sidewalls are a bit too soft to make them track-worthy but they're great otherwise. Not much roadnoise and they even have a sexy looking tread pattern.

They're not cheap but I'm checking into the Yokohama Advan Neova's. In a Tire Rack poll, they were rated as the number one max performance summer tire and got very good marks for being a rain tire too.

stock lugs will not work.

I have rats lugs, but there are many choices. Try subydude, or evasive motorsports.

You will be very happy with these tires.

Why will stock lugs not work with SDRs? They work fine with mine!

I also think you will be very happy with your choice. I am loving the RS/2 Z212's so far and can't wait to take them down to the Dragon in September!!!

12x1.25- Stock wheels use an acorn/ball/radius style, aftermarket wheels use a tapered/conical/tuner style. No, it is not safe to mix and match (stock wheel with tuner lugs or vice versa), the contact between the lugnut and the wheel will be insufficient, putting undue stress on them and potentially causing failure."
