Hmm 400 treadwear rating - sounds like you bought some hard tires that will last a long time.

wow you went almost as cheap as possible on a 30,000 dollar car.

For 10.00 more a tire you could of had something a lot safer with more performance.

These things will last forever that treadwear rating wow

It just kills me that people will spend $500+ per wheel for some forged JDM fashion statement wheel that provides zero tangible benefit, yet they won't spend the measly $200 per tire and get better handling and road feel that they'll appreciate every single mile they drive. Just makes no sense.

Why does it have to be $200 a tire. You can find very good tires for $120-140 a tire as well that perform equally.

....no...you blew chunks(you did ask...).

For $380 shipped to your door, you could have got 4 http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...54&rd=17&ar=45

Which make the Generals look like dog poop.

....well....with granite tires on your car, you will have a while to regret them......be SURE to post up your impressions of them along the ride......

<...SNIP...>

I was wrong or at the very least had no clue what the real issue was. See follow up below. Sorry.

I'm partial to Yokohamas. They seem to be one of the few tire mfrs left who understand that subjective handling depends heavily on turn-in precision, which requires stiff sidewalls.

In 253/45-17, you can get the amazing (but very expensive) Advan A046 which is the OEM tire on the EVO. Guaranteed no disappointments.

You can also get the older AVS Sport in that size, which has a bit less ultimate stick but is a hugely fun to drive tire. It's also cheaper.

You might want to slow down a bit, in any case.

Ok, I'm just confused. First you ask for opinions on a tire you've already bought, then you tell us you already know they suck when people give their opinions, then you tell us they don't compare to the RE070's in sidewall strength (considered by some to have the hardest of any tire, the RE070s that is) and you want ideas for something with a nice hard sidewall.

I think I'll do something I've never done before and completely withraw my last post. Obviously I didn't know what you were asking and am totally confused by your posts. I guess the other guys had a much better grasp of it than I.

Just curoius, what PSI are you runnning?

I'm interested to hear how you like the yokes, especially since they are in the same class as the Generals

....got it......the STi needs some serious rubber and Uncle is all about the best rubber for CHEAP.....no sense buying $$$ tires if the tires that cost 1/2 do 90% what the $$$ tires do unless your ego commands it.....mine dosen't

I'd run around on RA-1's or Corsa's or Pilot Cup Sports if I could afford it.....
