Default STI bypass valve

Can you guys still hear the quiet hissing sound of your bypass valve. I use to be able to hear it when the car [05 sti] was brand new, but I can't hear it anymore. Is that normal?

more importantly... is it working? when you shift do the rpms jump and then decline?

take the silencer off, you'll hear it - get a k&n typhoon (sti proven) and you'll hear it even more

You might have adjusted to the noise.

No, i have not adjusted to the sound, lol.

Depends how i shift, if i get off the gas and hit the clutch immediately then yes [The RPMS go up then down], if i get off the gas, then hit the clutch no.

Seriously though, has the quiet whooshing sound [when shifting], present when new, disappeared? It has for me.

the momentary increase in engine speed is related to the spring tension of the valve. The Spec-C valve, for instance, has a lighter spring and no boost signal hole. The lighter spring allegedly prevents the the rev climb phenomenon when you come off throttle. I noticed the same effect for the few months that I ran an aftermarket BOV. Its really not a problem, just the nature of the beast.
