Default from vancouver to edmonton

my friends and I are planning to drive from vancouver to edmonton , the last week of aug. I was just wondering, for those of you who've done it, how long does it take? will one day(10-12 hours) be enought, or should we be booking a hotel somewhere along the way?

any recommended thing to see in edmonton beside the big mall?

edit: too early to spell

hmm....yup. The big mall, that's about it. Unless u'd want to club or something, or just walk or cruise along Whyte ave. We could organize a mini-meet, but u have to remember our mini-meets are actual mini meets...not like BC's "mini-meets" which is like a small convention for us.

U can make it to Edmonton in 1 day w/o taking a nite over in some small town. Markus has done it several times.

Johnny, I drove up to Calgary last Oct. It cost me about 10-11 hours to Calgary, (it's from 4am in the morning til 3pm, so you know what speed I'm at!) add another 2 hours to Edmonton. Maybe if you try other route, it may down to only 10 hrs or so~

Just because I was going to visit my cousin at Calgary, and she wanted me to go to the "Big Mall" . That's the only place I go in Edmonton.

if I was driving my RS, I would love to meet up with you guys, but I'll be in my friends hyundia accent. so if you guys see someone waving at you in a silver accent, with a "god, I miss my subie" look on his face, that would be me

Greetings...

I made this trip in 10.5 Hours last month... I was driving a little fast however... (12 Hours is very do able..)

I went to school on the island and have made this trip a few times. The quickest way I have found is to take Hiway 5 thru valemont then 16 east thru jasper to edmonton...

Give us a day that works for you on that weekend and we'll round up the gang!!!

I'll be going in the exact opposite direction. Give us a beep when you see a trailer with a big "Z" all over the side. I'll know it's you.

There is a festival EVERY weekend of summer in Edmonton. That is why we arte known as the Festival City. I think that weekend is the weekend of "The Fringe". Live outdoor entertianment all week. Or is that this weekend. Anyways you'll find plenty to do.

Cheers

thanks for the offer guys but I have no idea of what our plans are going to be. so far we are planning to stay at banff for a couple of days, then to edmonton, the to calgary, then head back to vancouver, but so far we only have a hotel booked in banff(5 days). we will then wing it from there.we also thought about going to up jasper instead of into alberta. we will leave monday morning,(aug27) and I will have no internet access for the whole week so I won't be able to tell you our plans.
