Default just got protuned by Jorge (Riftswrx) cobb stage 2

well just got back not too long ago from getting protuned by Jorge at Extreme Motorsports.
First a big thanks to Jorge for coming out! you did outstanding work and the car feels like a whole new beast!

I forgot to ask for a print out of my first run but with the following mods
Cobb 3" catted downpipe
Stromung 3" catback
STi uppipe
Gutted snorkel/velocity stack

Pretty much a basic cobb stage 2

i put down 192whp/201wtq

Jorge stated my car was really laboring to build up power and i had some other issues going on (i already had issues with not hitting target boost in 1st or 2nd gears, plus alot of backfire...or is it afterfire)

anyway Jorge did his magic and on our final run was able to turn out 217whp/204wtq. great numbers and I was mega happy
He did a whole lot of work on my A/F's, boost wasn't able to get to the target that he set...a wastegate arm adjustment might be necessary. However honestly, i dont want to mess with anything like that mechanically so I'm just going to keep it as is.

Here is my dyno graph, i'm linking it because I suck at resizing

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...ZkMzF5NTQx.jpg

overall the car is just sooooo smooth, this tank of gas isn't gonna last long

Thanks again Jorge and to Extreme Motorsports for use of their facilities!

yeah that kinda suprised me as well, there coulda been some heatsoak hurting the numbers.....i'm not sure either
Keep in mind though I'm not hitting target boost still. Hopefully Jorge chimes in as he could give a better explanation than I can

Not all cars or dynos are created equal.

All dynos are most definately not created equal. Just to give you a matter of reference, a stage 2.5 car did ~260WHP today, where a stage 2.5 I did a month ago on Extreme's dyno did 275 and 290. Just goes to show how a super hot and humid day throws things off.

Regardless, all things considered, this car was only hitting around 14.5 PSI on the dyno, another stage 2 car done 3 hours before did 2 more HP and 20 more lb/ft of torque because it managed another 1.5 PSI. In the end though, area under the curve is what really matters to me. If it happens to produce a hard on inducing number... heh.

It was great working with everyone yesterday!

not tryin to hate but it does seem low. Cobbs stage 2 put down 225 on a mustang dyno. all dynos are diffrent and the temp and everything outside but it just seems low.

thanks jorge, i knew you could explain this better than I can
the car runs great, question though, if I did do a wastegate arm adjustment, will that throw off the balance that you created with the tune? I'm afraid to screw that up if I try it.
thanks again man!

That's fine, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Since all my base maps are developed off cars that I originally street tune, and understanding how the MAF load reference works, I setup the maps so they're around the 80% area during the tune, that leaves 20% of head room (on a relative scale at least) that has always worked fine in the past. So long as he's not spiking (or it's controlled at worse) I have no problem with it.

I do that for some of my more pesky customers who (against all better advice) still like to crank their MBC's to have fun from time to time .

For sake of comparison, this was Valkahar's stage 2 car done at 8:45 that morning. As you can see, Peak boost values = pretty close HP values, but that extra 1.5 in the midrange equals 20 more lb/ft.

When a car lets it, it's a pretty decent AFR curve to shoot for on 93. Maximizes a flat torque curve, which = SMOOTH power delivery.

But thanks bud!

Hey Max. I typically do Road tuning and charge by the hour (we can talk about that offline), P&L Motorsports, in Franklin Park, started pouring the concrete in their pit last night for their DynoJet, and will be my "home base" once it's in. I'll be limiting road tunes to the absolute necessary and doing everything on the dyno from there on out.

I actually live not far from the police station in The Polo Club.

Check out our weekly meet thread in the midwest forum and see if you can make it out tonight, we can talk then.
