Default CV boots

I replaced a front boot 3 years ago, but that may have been the original boot with 130000 miles on it, now it is broken again.
But I think this was a Subaru part. Has anyone had better luck with
any other brand???? I am thinking of trying Nappa this time.

Default I wouldn't get the advance ones

I went through two or three pairs in about a year. They came from Advance auto parts and they were remanufactured. They recently started selling "new" ones so I swapped out the remans for the "new". Now my car shudders from take off, I think the "new" ones don't fit tight enough on the transmission. Oh, the boots ripped on the remanufactured ones I was getting. When I get the chance I'm going to get factory ones to make sure everything is ok.

I tore one of my boots by accident doing modding, and got a Subaru factory replacement.

For 02 wrxs, the boots that come stock are a more brittle "plastic" type of material, whereas the replacement was "rubber" in feel and texture... more flexible, thicker, etc. I'd say stick with subaru OEM.

Does anyone make split (clamp-on) boots for Subies? Just a few days ago I had one let go which I need to fix pronto. I'd like to use a split (old VW style) for a quick fix.

The split type boot would not work on a CV axle since it has to turn and flex. The old VW swing axles could use a split boot because it was fixed in position and only had to flex in one direction (up and down) as the suspension moved. I know this well having owned a swing-axle Bug.
Also the only proper way to repair a torn CV boot is to remove the axle and clean/repack the joint before installing the new boot. If you don't do this the joint may fail soon afterward due to contamination from dirt and water.

Well, i'm not saying a '91 nissan maxima is better or worse than a WRX, but i drove one before getting my WRX. Both CV boots were torn but i drove afew thousand miles before fixing one with a split boot. Then i drove another 10-15k miles before fixing the other one, also with a split boot. Both times the bearings were repacked with grease. The car is now being driven by my sister and she's put on maybe 40-50k miles on the car in the last 2-3 years. Both of the split boots have pretty much failed, alot of grease has been flung out on the insides of the wheels, and yet the car keeps on going...

That being said, i'd stick with OEM parts. Better yet, if you can find a local Subaru Shop that disassembles cars, see if you can pick up a used halfshaft with the OEM CV boot. It'll be alot cheaper than going to the dealer and the boot is already halfway installed.
