Talking No more wood trim for me

Sorry for the crappy camera phone pics but my woman has the digicam in NYC right now. I'll post better ones in a few days. I think it is an improvement. I think I may go darker though. Your thoughts???

i've considered just buying the baja pieces that are similar to that color....but looks good just hope its durable!

fibuz

edit: too bad you lose the ever so functional can holder(no cups or risk spilage!@) with the baja pieces and maybe it doesn't quite fit either...looks a bit different around the shifter on the passenger side....on second thought maybe it is the same...blah im tired, bed time.

I *think* you can still purchase faux or even actual real stick-on wood trim from http://www.wooddash.com if you seriously feel you need "wood trim".

looks good. Was that a make or buy mod?
how did you get your ipod to mount so low?
is that a pro-fit mount?
I have a pro-fit mount for my sat radio and it blocks the cup holder.
PM me details.

iamrazor- definately a make-it mod, it's about 4-5 coats of krylon fuzion paint. It's made for plastic.

The mount is a pro-clip from Dension. Here's a few links for you:
BE specific mount
iPod holder

Not to be "that guy", but I was thinking about doing something similar. My idea was that I could sand (or steel wool) off the stock silvery paint and hope it would turn out the same as the trim surrounding the cluster / vents / hazard button (i.e. unfinished flat black)

Do any of you know if the plastic under the woodgrain (or whatever) would look like that "above" trim if it were stripped?

Thanks!

When I do my carputer (in about a month) I plan on swapping the wood grain out for a real carbon fiber dash kit. I guess I could put the S401 hazard light I've had for a couple months in at that time also

Don't think so, that plastic is pretty much brown the whole way through.

I think the plastic would melt in the oven if it were powdercoated...

heres some pics for the baja pieces which are probably overpriced, and rules out a fun DIY project...but for the truly lazy and those looking for a more durable solution

dunno, would have to ask the dealer for a part number...or the baja guys.

I'm kinda interested in that button on the last din spot. It would be a neat idea for me to wire up all of my accessories(radar detector, laser jammer, police scanner, subs etc) to that button to easily kill everything... or maybe wire in some driving lights to that switch

yeah, its more for entertainment than useage as a tool. it was really useful in determining hazards in the road etc on my trip from AZ -> WA -> AZ this summer though.

yeah, the county here is digital, and the city is still analog for another few months...sadly, I cannot afford a digital scanner right now. a friend has one though and its pretty cool to listen to...hopefully soon the digital scanners will come down in price.

I need a better antenna too...

I love wood trim, part of the reason I bought my L instead of a TS.

Thanks for the above link, I've been looking for a place to get more or replace plastic with wood...
