Default I work at Best Buy & want to hook up my car audio with Best Buy stuff

I just started working at best buy and we get pretty decent discounts on car audio equipment. I'm pretty car audio dumb so i dont know if what they carry is any good. Heres what I have in mind. I mostly listen to rap or rock. I'd like a system with decent bass and awesome clarity at high volume. I'm not trying to shatter any windows or win dB contests. Another thing I use is my IPOD and i know pioneer and alpine make headunits that work with it. another must is that i want to put my subs in the trunk where the spare tire is like so:

thanks. ill need to know EVERYTHING i need to get this done.

Hey man I am the install senior at my local Best Buy....
The best we have is Alpine. Start with an Alpine head unit that has I-pod capabilities and a sub woofer output. Get the alpine components for the doors in 6.5 inch for the fronts and 5 1/4 in the rear. Look for a 4 channel V-12 amp to power them if not get the V-power 4 channel amp. For your Sub just get one 12inch Type R and the mono block V-12 amp. These subs are heavy so getting one wont weigh you down too much. Also, these subs hit hard when in a sealed enclosure, which we sell, but make sure you get some silicon caulking from a hardware store to seal all of the air gaps inside the box where each piece of wood meets up. You'll need the Fosgate dual amp kit and possibly a 1 farad Fosgate capacitor. Hope this helps.

Joe

Yea, I've got that best buy discount, too! Comes in handy a lot. I picked up the alpine dva-9860 headunit through alpine's best buy employee accomodations program for a steal. The headunit plays dvd video, dvd-mp3's, sat ready, etc. I plan on hooking up an lcd screen to it later on. If you don't need the video aspect, they have cd-only headunits that would work for you.

Looks like Joe summed everything up for you pretty well.

alpine is the only thing good that best buy has, but since best buy now carries alpine, alpines quality has suffered a little bit, and best buy doesn't really carry alpines high end stuff, but defiantly stick with alpine, atleast for the speakers and amps, you can't go wrong with a pioneer head unit either,

I would think twice about spending any $$$ at all with rear speakers.
After reading a link posted by offset in the thread below, I didn't purchase rear speakers when I just recently upgrade my stock stereo setup. That essay was right...I disabled my rear speakers and the sound is great without them.

Just a thought...

*EDIT*
I still can't post links here, so go to page 2 in this forum and check out the thread titled 'Rear Speaker Situation'.

Ha ha ha, just because we sell to Best Buy that does not imply our qulaity has suffered, we dont make custom product for Best Buy. Product line offered is not high end that's all.

If you want really really crisp, defined highs, go with the Polk Audio 5.25 componant speakers, if only just for the front of the car. BB doesn't carry them, but even un-amped they are the best set of speakers I ever owned, and I too used to be an install tech at my local BB.

of the speakers I would get the SPR-17LS. The step up from the typeS to the typeR is big.

As for the amp...if you have the money go with the better (more expensive) amp....but I would not be uncomfortable with either one. They both should be fine.
