Default Which springs and were to buy?

Hello, looking for spring for 2000 Legacy GT Sedan. These are the req, please tell me what options I have.

*Have to fit on stock struts for now, struts next summer.
*Proly 1inch drop as I will be driving car in the winter.
*Comfortable, safe, reliable ride.
*I will be getting 17inch rims, will 1 inch drop be enough for the rims to look good?

Expert, please give your advice.

ION Performance springs are probably your best bet. Theres several threads about them if you'll use the search function.

I was reading somewhere that I will need top hats from Impreza or something liek that, not sure for what springs. I just want to clarify, that I need springs that don't require no other parts to install them.

Thanks.

You do not need other top hats for ION Performance springs...or most spring sets for that matter. Things only get confusing when trying to make Impreza suspension pieces work on a Legacy.

The ION Performance springs and H&R springs are specifically made for your car.

Its a pretty simple process if you've got the right tools...

specifically a socket set, good jack stands/lift, spring compressor(rentable at auto parts stores).

Should be some documents out there, maybe on scoobymods.com, but basically jack the car up, secure it, remove wheels, 3 unbolts on top, LOOSEN but not remove the bolt that holds the top hat on, remove 2 bottom bolts, take off entire structure, remove top hat, remove spring, compress new spring, put on strut, and back track. Could take a 4-5 hours your first time, but is not very difficult.

edit: remember, these are very rough instructions...you should find a DIY to base your install off, and just take my writeup as something to estimate effort/time.

somebody, i believe it was Tora, said that you need spring perches for the H & R setup.

Do a search for my thread on the iON springs. IMO, they're exactly what you're looking for.
