What is the best way to ship a complete wheelset - 4 rims, tires mounted? Ball park cost for shipping up to 1,000 miles?
UPS Ground, FedEx Ground, some othe bulk method? Do you wrap them up with cardboard? Thanks in advance, Sean

Greyhound is cheap, but the buyer has to go to the depot to pick up the rims - sometimes that's a pain.
The other way is to ship them two at a time. Cut circular pieces of cardboard out and place them over the wheels. Shrink wrap the whole thing. The tires will protect the outside edges. Expect to pay 80-100 via UPS/FedEx Ground. |

Get large lawn and leaf trash bags the thick ones. Put two tires in them with some layers of thick cardboard between them to protect the wheels, face the wheels together. Wrap the heck out of the whole thing with duck tape get all the loose ends so nothing can snag. I use a whole roll of cheap tape to ship a set of four.
Ship using Fed Ex Ground and drop them off to a distribution point (by air port normally). Should be about 30-60 any place in the cont. US. |
