Default 2 plug & patches on 1 tire

I am not holding pressure on my front passenger tire. I took the wheel and tire off the car to find 2 small nails in the tread (not sidewall) of the tire. They were spaced on opposite sides of the wheel tire (one at 12 o'clock, one at 6 o'clock). My question is if it is unsafe to plug and patch both holes. Thanks for your answers!

Plugging and patching usually hold for a while but remember, those nails could have damaged the steel cords that go through the tire and thus, eventually, a bubble or blister could form.

Just keep an eye on that tire and don't drive on it like a maniac either as the integrity of the tire could be comprised just slighty.

I heard that you shouldn't put more than one on a tire, but if you do it should be alright for a little while.

NO WORRIES. 2 plugs & patches are just fine. Especially since they're opposite of eachother. 3 is where things can get hairy. I wouldn't worry about separation (blisters) Just make sure you take it to America's (Discount) Tire Co.

Thanks guys, but it ends up that one of the holes is too close to the sidewall. About 2 inches from the side. So I will be ordering a new tire from tirerack.

Since my other 3 tires are ~2 years old with roughly 20k miles on them, can I just replace the punctured one? I remember that Subaru suggests replacing all 4 if they are not within some matching diameter tolerance. Thanks again guys!
