These guys are awesome. I have bought 2 cars from them and have absolutely no complaints. Ask for Ed Osborne or Bob Rafferty for a superior experiance. I can wait to buy another car from these guys.

I started going to Rafferty for service after a few bad experiences at Eger Subaru in Bridgeport. Prompt, reliable service so far.

I will never EVER deal with Raferty again. Back when I was shopping around for my WRX I called several dealerships to get their "best" price. The best price came down to Raferty and Welsh Subaru. John Willis at Welsh kept telling me that no matter what Raferty offers to always ask him if he could do better. So basically, I played this game for 30-45 minutes where the guy at Raferty said, "enough, I can't beat that price but don't expect to ever get your car serviced here." I even told the guy that he couldn't do that, that it was against the Subaru franchise agreement and he said that he couldn't give a damn about franchise agreements that they were not going to service my vehicle.

BTW I ended up paying $700 over invoice. Ordered the car early March.

I get my service done at Concordville Subaru / Nissan which is rated #2 internally by Subaru. Welsh is #1 but it's a hike from my house to there.

I bought my last subaru from rafferty and was not happy with them. I found their salespeople unstraightforward and the first time I took it in for service, they came up with more b**l***** stuff to do on the car than one could imagine.

A friend whose family has bought at least three cars went there to test drive a WRX and the old salesguy refused to let him!

I started getting my previous car serviced at Wilkie downtown (not a great location, but great service). When it came time to buy my WRX, I went to Wilkie.

i bought my RS from rafferty and have had no problem with the service department...dont worry about it...take it to them and then judge what kinda experience you had there

btw i almost bought a WRX from them and they tried their hardest to accommodate what i wanted to pay but i didnt want to pay over 300 a month...and were cool and they didnt try to hard sell me...i was to upsidedown on my RS loan...so my monthly wouldve been $350

Here's my take on them:

Their service is okay. I never had a problem with them until about 6 months ago when, at about 56k miles, I could start to hear my wheel bearings go bad. I took it in 3 different times, but they wouldn't acknowledge it. So I was resigned to driving around on them for the next 6k miles as they got progressively worse. Finally, I took it in for an oil change, and on my reciept it tells me that I have some bad wheel bearings that should be replaced to the tune of ~$600!!!

Needless to say, I was livid. I kept my cool and spoke to a woman there who, in turn, spoke to the regional rep who advised them to replace them under a "good faith" warranty with a copay of $50. So in the end, I got what I needed, but I paid $50 when I shouldn't have needed to and I wasted a ton of my time.

Also on the same ticket was a suggestion that I replace both of my o2 sensors and cats for $950! All because of a CEL...

Anyhow, I'll still be using them since they're so close to my work and they've done well by me in the past, but I question the skills of their techs now.


Oh, but their parts people are extremely cool.

Default Stay Away from Rafferty

Just got my car back from Rafferty's service department, and I couldn't be more pissed. It got towed there by Subaru Roadside, and was the closest, otherwise I would have chosen another dealership based on my past experiences. I had been there twice before, and had bad experiences.

The first time, no one would help me after spending 20 minutes on the lot looking at WRX's.

The second, I went in with an offer from another dealer, an ass of a salesman told me he could match it and came back $2k over what my offer was.

So, needless to say, I wasn't excited about dealing with them again. Well, I picked up my car today, and noticed three large, deep scratches on my rear drivers side door. The car was 1 week old and flawless when it entered their lot. Their stance was simply "Uhhh...that didn't happen here." I have no pictures of the car prior to it going in for service, so I really have nothing to prove they did it other than my word. So, I now have a new WRX with some nice paint damage on it courtesy of Rafferty.

I would avoid this dealership at all costs

One of the worst stealerships I have ever come across. Went in to buy a new WRX with cash and they told me they could only take 200 bucks off the msrp. Before we even got to a price they said they wouldnt let me test drive the car. It was some fat sales dude with a lazy eye. He said he knew what I was going to do to the car if he let me take it out.

Needless to say I went to another dealership, got the price I wanted and they even let me test drive the car....Also, my friends have complained about their service prices and even some of them wouldnt pay the bill until they reduced the prices they were asking for.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Rafferty. When I went in to buy a car, Steve Heck helped me out. I was set on the WRX after he let me take it out...he even encouraged me to take the curves hard so that I can see what the handling was like.

He was patient with me but when it came down to it, I went with the STi instead lol

Service and parts were great as well. I just wish Rafferty would switch out from well water as their source so that they can give out complementary car washes like other dealers.

Rafferty Subaru Sucks.

The body shop is great, Ive had 2 Stis worked on and the paint match and work has been 100% Youd never know the car had been in an accident.
As far as service, theyre horrible. I bought an 04 sti with 25k on it back in 2006 and the 4-5 synchros were shot. After having it in the shop twice they said the transmission was fine. Obviously it was when theyre shifting at 2000rpm. I took the service manager for a ride it was clear that something wasnt right. They rebuilt the transmission under warranty and replaced both gear 4 and gear 5 and new synchros. After getting my car back the clutch felt different. The engagement point was way higher than before. 2 days later the clutch was slipping and the car was undrivable. After fighting with them for a week they refused to replace the clutch under warranty. (Keep in mind this is all 3 weeks after buying the car) I hade to shell out $950 for somethuing they screwed up.

Recently I tried avoiding hitting a deer on the local backroads and wound up in a field after running over debris left over from the early freak snow storm. The body shop was great, however the car started making a binding sound in the rear after the accident. While it was in the shop it was supposed to be fixed along with an inspection and oil change. After 2 weeks in the shop I called to see where they were with the car. They forgot to do the inspection, forgot the oil change, forgot to check the noise, etc. They said theyd get right on it. Just got it back yesterday after 1 month in the shop. GUESS WHAT? They forgot to fix whatever is binding in the back so my car gets to go back.
Rafferty has the most incompitant shop ive ever delt with. Welsh is the way to go, unfortunately its a hike up there, but at this point its well worth it.

Oh and the new sales team at Rafferty sucks, the best guy was Bob Musaro who retired about 3 or 4 years ago. When the 2009 sti came out i went up there after previously purchasing the 04 sti and the 07 sti. The sales guy told me he couldnt let me test drive the 09 sti because he didnt think I was a serious buyer. What a boner.

Anyways do yourself a favor and go elsewhere

I bought my 2006 WRX from them back in July from Rafferty. This was the third dealership I went to in my search for a used 06-07 WRX. One was a Ford dealership, second was Annapolis Subaru, and third was Rafferty. The sales guy (Bill?) was a nice guy who had been there for some time as was the owner. They were top notch and I didn't feel like I was getting screwed just being there as I did with the first two dealerships.

My only problem was Dennis, the finance guy and the fact they put their good name and reputation on the line for a terrible third party warranty. They sold me an extended warranty from a company called GWC/Guardian. I was on the fence about it to begin with as I know most 3rd party warranties are scams. He said if I didn't want it anymore I could get a refund within 30 days. I said I wanted to read it in the contract. Of the 5 page contract, there were 3 pages dedicated to refunds listed by state. I read for both the sales state (PA) and my home state (MD) and I could return it within the 30 days. However, Dennis blatantly lied to me and modified the contract. You can only get a refund within 30 days if your car is stolen, totaled, or repo'ed. On the page where it gives refund conditions state by state, at the top it says "please refer to section 13 for refund requirements". There was no section 13 in my contract. It was deliberately modified so I wouldn't read that the car had to be stolen, totaled, or repo'ed. On top of that, I looked up Guardian's BBB history and they have 40+ complaints in 2011 alone (this was in July).

Rafferty should be ashamed and embarrassed of themselves for selling such a crappy product and blatantly lying to me to get me to buy it. I expected that from a shady used car dealership, but not from a reputable Subaru dealership. Because of that, I will never be buying another car again from Rafferty. It is a shame that they lost a potential repeat customer over something as small as a third party warranty. If it wasn't for this, I would say I had an awesome experience and highly recommend them.

I asked politely online how much for a car I wanted, they responded, "WRX will see for MSRP ONLY". I understand if you don't want to sell the car for a bargain, you're in the business to make money. What happens next was interesting...

I politely told them if they decided to accept my offer in the next week or so, or if the car is still not sold, they can email me and I'm a guaranteed sale. They insisted again that it will only sell for MSRP, ever!

I told them politely again, it's not true and I had other dealers agree to a lower price I wanted, and it's just I wanted the color of the car in transit to them better than the other dealer. So I asked them again, I'm a guaranteed sale, and if ever they decided to change their mind and accept my offer, I'm an email away. Here's what they emailed me...

"As I said, they are sold at MSRP only. They will not be sold for less. It is a vehicle that literally came out a week ago! The 2015's are sold at MSRP as well, so nice try! If you were quoted under invoice from these places , why are you coming to us? They must really need the sale, so jump on that offer. It will NEVER stand here. Have a great day."

I emphasized to them, I'm a savvy and informed customer, my feelings are not going to be hurt if they reject my offer. But to insult me like I don't know what I'm doing, it's not very good customer service at all.

If you can avoid this dealership, avoid them. Sure they are in the business of making money and there's nothing wrong at all with it. But to lie and insult your potential and almost guaranteed customer, that's a big no no.

I feel like I need to balance this thread out a little bit. I have bought two cars there, one in 2002 (1999 RS) and another in 2012 (New Impreza 5 door). Then also I converted my parents to Subarus by helping them get new 2010 Outback and also my sister by helping her get 2015 Impreza 5 door. All of these times my experience was very positive. Granted I have not bought any WRXs from there that came out a week ago, but I have brought some truecar printouts and got a better price than original advertised.

I have not really used their service department for anything other than free inspection on the 2012 Impreza. Got free loaner car for a day every time.

Where I think this dealership stands out though is their parts department. Over last year or so I have been doing a complete restoration/rebuild of my 1999 RS STI swap, and I probably bought over $1,000 worth of OEM parts. Not only are their online prices are cheaper than any other online dealer, but also Fran, who runs the parts department, helped me few times with some part fitment verification.

I am not saying that other people did not have issues, but speaking of my personal experience, its been all positive.
