Default STI/WRX/Forester 10" underseat sub, third batch

10" RAAMaudio subwoofer system that fits under the front passenger seat of all 04 and newer Impreza based cars.

Upfront bass can integrate and have a clairity that is very difficult to acheive any other way.

Mounting the subwoofer as near the middle of the car and as low as possible results in virtually zero negative effects on the handling dynamics of the vehicle and uses no trunk space. There is more than enough room under the drivers seat for an amp that can power the sub and a set of front components. For sedans you will not have to sound deaden your trunk at all and for wagons, the Forester, etc, far less deadening in the rear will be needed as well.

Only 17lbs total including an Arc Audio 10" dual voice coil subwoofer that lists for $219.00 with your choice of either dual 2 or dual 4 ohms. The sub has 15mm of xmax so gets decently loud and one of the best SQ subs in it's class ever produced. 200 watts RMS will drive these very nicely, 400 watts max is recommended.

Contructed out of fiberglass with a molded bottom with air ducts to allow the rear seat ventilation to still function. The top is 8 pieces of Baltic Birch Plywood for the best in resistance to resonance and strength to weight ratio.

20 units have been manf and shipped, so far everyone seems quite pleased with them

We are OEM authorized so you get a full factory warranty on the sub and lifetime on the enclosure we produce. Other subs may fit but we chose this sub as it has the best fitment, sound quality, SPL and reliability we could find that would work for our design goals. We have not test fit other subs and have no plans to do so.

Production of this batch of ten units will start in approx 2 weeks, it will take another 2-3 weeks to finish and ship them out, they are very labor intensive to manf to the very tight design specs to ensure fitment and functionality.

$599.00 delivered in cont US, outside this area will be slightly higher.

8 units still available, if you want on the list please contact us right away,
rick@raamaudio.com for details.

Thanks,
Rick

Just want to drop a line for anyone thinking of this system:

I recently purchased, recieved and installed this sub system. The transaction was extremely smooth. Fabrication was excellent and higher than expectations.

This is in a 2004 WRX, with no fitment issues. Basically, all I did was take the passenger seat out, put down the sub box, and screw the seat back in. Yes, its that simple.

My previous setup was an Adire Brahma MKI in a sealed Sub-Zero Box @1.2cf. It was run off a Crossfire BMF600d (@800 watts rms). After several trips and moves, I got quite tired of lacking trunk space and went with Rick's underseat sub. There is obviously a large difference in the Brahma and Arc Audio sub. But after installing everything, I am impressed with the amount of bass I am still able to attain. I am currently running the Arc sub off the BMF600d @ 2ohms (350 watts rms). Response is very good, with only a drop in the lower frequencies. I would say the sub system is about 80% of what I got in bass response from the Adire Brahma (I have a sedan, so I did lose a lot from mounting in the trunk).

Hope this helps anyone. I have some photos that I can add in the coming days, to give an idea what the installed box looks like.

2 big, not very good pictures of it installed.

You basically can't tell it's there until someone sits down and you turn on the radio. Very clear sound, and more than loud enough for me. Plus the power handling is low enough I found a 4-ch amp to mount under the drivers seat... nothing in the trunk.

No mounting. It is flush with the seat mounts, so that can neither slide forward or backward. It is a very good fit. Once the seat has been bolted back in, you are ready to rock.

I've got a JL 500/1. I assume that's too much for this sub?

This enclosure absolutely rocks and it is designed around the subwoofer sold with it. Buying the enclosure and sticking another sub in it is a risky proposition as it is rather oddly shapped to fit where it does and have the volume requirements it needs to meet. But suffice to say it is a VERY nice woofer.

I will try to take pics of a friend of mine (jard) that got one of these and put it in his STI. but imagine seeing basically nothing underneath the passenger seat except for black carpeting. And you have the general idea with this. The fit is tight and the finish is excellent.

And I doubt a 500/1 would be too much for this sub. Just use your head when listening and dont nuke it and you will be fine. You will hear distortion very easily as you are RIGHT ON TOP of the woofer. It really is neat.

There is nothing for the 02-03 as the seats are different and we dont have nearly as much clearance.

Are there any pics of this? I'm wondering about the air space you've managed to get under the seat, and how much room there is for peoples feet if they sit in the back seat. I haven't been able to find any pics of this sub yet that work.

This is a photo of the enclose pre-install.

These are photos I took after i installed the sub.

[img=http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/1588/dsc00384small5ax.th.jpg]

As you can tell, there is good room in the front and the back. It fits a Size 13 with decent room but does take up some toe room to stretch out in the back.

The Sub is by Arc Audio. Its rated RMS is 250. I am running a Kicker KX400.1 (425 watts rms certified) with the gain down at 15% with no problems. It can handle 350 rms (clean watts) with no problems.

Doesn't shake the neighborhood but gets low enough and has great sound quality.

What's the internal airspace minus the displacement of the woofer magnet? By the pic it looks like a sealed enclosure, am I right? Is the woofer pointing downward for a loading affect? Selling the enclosure separately, how much?

Once installed is the seat able to still slide forward and back? Do you have the driver's side and passenger side available?

Quote from other thread (search for Arc Audio and you'll find the thread):

"Sub: 10" Arc Audio, D2 or D4 depending on amp being used. 15mm xmax, RMS power 250 watts, max power 500 watts(I have ran them at 400 watts RMS just fine), recommened box size is .65, small box is .5, our enclosure is .62, biggest we could make it. Cutout diameter is 9.25", mounting depth is 5.5" (we have to remove the motor rubber cover to get enough clearance)"

I have the sub installed and the seat moves forward and back with no problems. The sub is on the top of the box facing towards the roof of the vehicle. Sealed enclosure.
