Default Looks like a first for Nascar happening right now...

...on NBC, the first ever Nascar race (Busch Series) to be run in the rain on rain tires....on a Road Course....

This should be interesting....

It's a bit distressing to hear that they haven't really tested the Goodyear rain tires in a competition situation since the practice session for the exhibition race at Suzuka (1998?), but it looks like they're waiting for the track to dry out anyway.

It would've been cool to see the BGN cars running with working brake lights and windshield wipers, though.

I actually watched this race because they werent driving in circles. Congrats to Robby Gordon, I know he didnt win, but he was the winner for many fans.

One more lap and newman would have eaten crow.

Robby Gordon is truely a great race car driver, no matter what he drives.

Yeah, God forbid you actually admit that you found it entertaining to watch 3400# cars with gobs of horsepower get flogged around a road course with tight, bumper-to-bumper action and actual passing - yes, passing! - at just about every corrner.

Other than that, the only interesting things about NASCAR + ovals are the restarts, crashes, the last 5-10 laps, wrecks, the final lap, trading paint and anything else that doesn't involve going straight or turning left/right.

I feel bad for Waltrip. He always gets shafted by someone.

What happened to Jeff Gordon? I saw the end of the race, and he finished 15th. FWIW, Robbie Gordon whining was funny "yeah, I was brake checked by Stewart" . That's how he got 1.5 seconds ahead of him after one lap...

Mika
Gordon got a flat with maybe 20 laps to go.

As far as Robbie and Boris, they did get brake checked, did you see the "helicopter view" of the restart?

Tom, no I didn't see the helicopter view. My bad. I'm not surprised one bit by Stewart though. Sadly, he's one of the two drivers that can turn right relatively well(Jeff Gordon being the other one).

Mika

he's been doing LOTS of wheel to wheel road course racing when he's not running NASCAR and it has definitely paid off. If Jeff Gordon did as much he'd be ahead of Stewart in my opinion.

Robby Gordon and Boris Said had some great racing throughout the day coming from deep in the field.

I love watching NASCAR road courses when they are sorting themselves out after pits. Lots of passing, 3 wide into corners, etc.

Boris went from I think 41st on the grid, to finish 3rd. Hell of a drive. Looks like he's learned how to bump and grind with the Nascar guys. He always used to get pushed off the track. I recall one shot of him nosing someone out of his way on Sunday.

Very entertaining racing. I wish they did more road courses, I'd definitely watch it. They looked to be right at the limit, the top guys were sliding the cars around almost every corner.
