Default STI wheels clearcoated????

I have a mark on one of my stock STI BBS wheels. I bought the car used, so I am not sure where it came from. I think it may be from a wheel weight getting slid around the wheel.

Anyway, here's the question:

Are these wheels clearcoated? I'd like to try to polish the spot, but I don't want to mess up the clear.

Thanks for any tips.

They are painted so I can only surmise that they have a clearcoat. Better safe than sorry.

Depends how serious the mark is, but are you planning on using a scratch remover or just a polish? Is the paint damaged or missing, or is it just surface scratching? For deep scratches, I would seek professional assistance.

You can polish them, though I think wheel paint is more of a one step process. I personally used some Klasse All in One polish on my prodrive p1's and then sealed them with Poorboys Wheel Sealer. The Klasse will help take out small scratches, but try something like Scratch X for more serious ones.

I'll post a picture, maybe that will help you guys see whether it's serious, or just superficial.

I have the silver oem bbs rims, and it seems like I have a new chip on the all the time... some of them going down to the metal throught the paint and clear.

I'm not sure what I should do... maybe get them all refinished during the winter season?
