Default Slightly OT: Subaru Blitzen

Has anyone heard of a Subaru B4 Blitzen (means "Faster than lightening") ? Supposedly it is a B4 RSK that has been slightly tweaked by Porsche. I'd like to find out more about this machine....

I know a few things.

• Designed in conjunction with Porsche Design
• Recently released as a wagon also
• Available only in Japan
• Similar to basic B4, but has front LSD (which I understand B4 doesn't have...and don't flame me on this one) so it is actually a tad quicker
• Spendy

go to subaru Japan's website and you can look at it there. If you have a translation program, you can translate all the goodies.

To hell with the body kits...I want the car! The red Blitzen, tearing into a curve, was my wallpaper until my Legacy GT wagon was supplanted by my WRX wagon.

I'm telling ya...Blitzen wagon, Audi RS4, S6..all the cool cars are wagons.

The Blitzen body kit is sold for all Legacies (in Japan) but you need to own a legacy (in japan) and a lot of money (in japan) because the (in japan) Blitzen body kit is made of thin aluminum (in japan). You can buy each part separately (in japan) but it's fairly expensive - looking at about 1700USD for the bumper alone (in japan). Other than the front helical LSD, there is little mechanical difference between the (in japan) B4 RSk and GT-B wagon and the actual Blitzen model that was sold (in japan) in limited numbers.

To be honest, front dif aside, the only thing(s) I liked about the Blitzen was the cool rear wing, the funky rear spoiler, and the rims...

I've got the rims but cannot find the rear wing in my B4 color...

Cheers!

Paul:

$1,700 USD for an ALUMINUM front end? THAT'S CHEAP! I'm not being sarcastic. That is a bargain, then again I'm comparing to things like the $1,200 USD for a FIBERGLASS Top Secret front end for my other car... *grrr*

Question B4 Blitzen

Blitzens are sold new only in Japan and NEW ZEALAND.
Used Blitzens from Japan are sold in New Zealand.
Like Japan, they have high octane petrol and drive on the left.

In 2006 we are going to tour New Zealand in a 2001 Blitzen wagon with SportShift transmission and fingertip shifting. With a bi-turbo, the lag associatiated with an A/T will be minimized. And by shifting another way, instead of with the other hand, we won't appear to be tourists from the other side of the road quite so often.
My other car is a 2002 WRX wagon 5-speed in the rare yellow.
My truck is a 1988 UNIMOG 406 full agra, 22-speed.
I seek other Blitzen owners and their input on upgrades, as in What?
I'm glad I saved my milk money when I was young, to afford a retirement like
this! Has Alan Greenspan wrecked your chances, with easy credit and killer debt?
Flamers need not reply.
Best regards from Puna Hawaii and New Zealand,
Capnbluto
