Default 06 Legacy and Outback 2.5I updates...

Open up the possiblities for aftermarket turbo charging.

The 06 Legacy 2.5i's now have:

2.5L 175hp 4cylinder
17" Alloy wheels
Air Filtration
Immobilizer key
Larger front disc brake

Add an AVO turbo kit and a Legacy GT hood and you too can have a 300BHP Legacy.

While the Legacy GT brakes are bigger than even the 06 2.5i they are almost the same size as the Outback XT brakes. Plus the 17" Wheels now make upgrading that much easier and cheaper.

And the best news is that all of this will still cost less than a Legacy GT.

Why on earth would you do that when you can spend a few grand more and have a factory car with way more reliable power and a full warranty? Heck you could get a used 05 LGT with like 10k miles on it for less...

Not with 300BHP

And as for the 06 GT wagon will be auto only and the sedan it will come in Limited form only, sunroof, leather, etc...

So if you don't want leather or a sunroof or Auto but still want your GT Legacy you can spend 1000's less and with an AVO kit have it all without the GT Ltd. price.

I keep thinking maybe I should just get an AVO kit for my 04, but then the parts list for everything else would be huge. Atleast those who buy an 06 base model won't have that much to change.

I have been looking for an used 05 GT but there just aren't any around here.

The other thing was the 2.5i Outback now comes with all these goodies too. This means, in Canada, that a better XT can also be made. And the 05 Outback XT is just like your new 06, Limited only, leather, sunroof etc...

Again all the stuff I don't want. Plus the price of the 05 Outback XT in Canada is just a little less than the 05 VDC. About C$9,900 to C$10,300 more than a 2.5i. Where as the AVO kit comes in at about C$3.5-4K plus install. Add in some new paint and it should come to nearly half the price difference of a XT.

Then consider that used 2.5i are plentiful and the XT's are not, next year the 06 models will have a nice discount and should be locally available. Things are looking up.

Oh that does read wierd. It is supposed to say that the GT brakes are bigger than the 2.5i and OB XT brakes. Even though the new 06 2.5i has new bigger brakes.

LGT brakes = 12.3 vented front disc
11.3 vented rear disc
L2.5i brakes = 11.5 vented front disc
10.6 solid rear disc (base and Ltd.)

where as the Outback has

OBXT brakes = front: 11.5 x 1.18 ventilated disc, twin caliper piston
rear: 10.6 solid disc, single caliper piston

OB2.5i brakes = front: 11.5 x.94 ventilated twin caliper piston
rear: 10.6 x .39 solid disc, single caliper piston

the i and GT are different 2.5's, I don't know if the turbo kit will work very well. Different compression.
