Default STI suspension for 02 WRX

Has anyone installed the STI suspension kit from Subaru? I was wondering about the performance.

"Super"markus, I think most do a pretty decent job about searching for things they'd like info about. There are some questions that seem to pop up all the time but to be honest - this is really the first I have seen regarding specifically the full STi suspension. I have been watching this board for a few months. This car has been available since March. Are you aware of how many individuals have installed the STi suspension system on the North American car during that period of time given the other options available? Like the 17" BBS wheels, my guess is probably not as many as you might think. If you know otherwise regarding the question above, would it not be more productive for you to try and help point this guy to specific examples? If you don't like the post - keep on clicking.

Try not to let your moniker go to your head.

cctuner, I have wondered about this setup as well. I hope you get some helpful feedback rather than more quips from a self proclaimed superhero.

Default Thanks

Thanks Jim. Not all of us are so perfect as others. I am building the WRX as a project car for cctuner.com

I am hoping to get some good insight on the direction to take the car.

Jim,
I'm sorry you took that so personally, I won't do the same. There have been several people on the board that have installed the STI springs and a few that have gone whole hog. I know one guy here in WA installed the full setup and posted his thoughts on it here somewhere.
I could do the search for you and post the urls if you'd like. It's just that the search engine turns up soooo many links that I thought it might be a good learning experience. Lots of people come on and just ask without knowing to search, I was trying to turn cc on to the wonderful world of the I-club search engine. Why you got so hot and bothered is beyond me.
You obviously haven't been watching the board that closely because in the last three days, there have been at least 3 active threads on STI springs or struts or some combination of both.
Granted, I was wrong for not going into more depth on where to find more info.
But you are way off base in gauging my personality. You don't know me. You can't honestly say I think I'm better than other people on this board. I think it's just plain childish to come after me by making fun of my moniker.
CC,
I can't advise you on this question but I can point you in the right direction to help you find your answers. Just PM me so I don't have to ruffle any more feathers.

You're right. My apologies. A one sentence reply like the one you posted reads, to me, like a jab. I just get annoyed when people drop that kind of line instead of thinking how they might be able to offer something productive. There's a lot of crap out there right now to sort through with company XYZ rushing to bring something to the market. After all, many of us are here to exchange information, find answers and help each other out. Sorry about the superhero crack.

At this point I'm so confused about the handling issue. My car is in the shop right now and someone else is footing the bill because of his stupidity behind the wheel. I thought this would be the perfect time to kill a few birds with one stone but all this info: "yes do it, no dont" Is giving me fits.
Lots of people rave about DMS golds but I dont know if I want to have THAT much adjustability.
Lots of people love the STI package but what if I do want more adjustability? Either way, it's getting harder to justify this kind of big ticket purchase when there is such conflicting info. .

Default Me too

supermarkus, I am right there with you. I have STI springs, Ground Control coilovers, and non-existent Eibach sprigs dancing through my dreams every night. It's making me INSANE! I also have to choose sway bars, etc... I think it might be helpful to attend a Subaru meeting or something like that to see what everyone has on their cars. Pictures would be nice, but there are just so few people posting their pics. I saw the King springs and they also suffer from the "too low in the rear" syndrome.

Stressed,

Default Adjustability

I have heard some things about lowering the WRX to much. That if you slam the car it will not handle the way it should. My thinking is that I am not a ralley racer. I want a great handling street car with track performance. The STI stuff is supposed to be a great matched set of components. I wonder if you can build the same or better matching from third party pieces.

Does anyone know if the struts are adjustable for ride comfort vs performance? I have KYB adjustables on my DelSol(I know, a honda? I am not a car bigget, I love them all cctuner DelSol ) And I enjoy being able to soften things up a little when I am not hammering through the curves.
