We local Mid-A NASIOC members had an outing at one of the 1/4 mile strips here in Maryland over this past weekend. The temperature was disgustingly hot with a ground temp of 97F and a relative temp well over 100F. Obviously all the turbo cars (myself included) were running crappy being bogged down with excessive heat-soak and other heat causing problems. My best time for the day was only a mere 14.1 which is a stretch off my average mid-13 trap. Fortunately everybody was running slower than their usual time which seemed to level the playing field. I was the only turbo Subaru there with the stock (wrx that is) turbo, everybody else had larger performing turbo upgrades.
A number of HOT subies in this video, I’m the rio-red Legacy BD (always in the far lane). ![]() http://media.putfile.com/Fastest-Wagon_0001

Hmmm... The Blue '67 Chevy Caprice appeared to out drag a '98-'01 Silver Impreza RS ??? Did I see that correctly ? Maybe they spotted the poor old geezer a few seconds ?
Your car appeared to run very well, Xcntrk75 |

Bunch of non-launching AWD owners, there. The silver RS against the Caprice, the silver wagon, the blue RS that xcntrk raced, etc. xcntrk, you, on the other hand, seemed to be getting off the line really well every time.Pat Olsen '97 Legacy 2.5GT sedan |

Yeah the two GC’s (silver and blue) are both swap cars running JDM STI (EJ207) motors. The blue one’s a beast with a FMIC, and 18G… Of course none of this helps when you’re not launching correctly.
![]() I launch with “launch control”, for those who don’t know it’s a nice feature of TXS UTEC engine management. Smash the gas on the first yellow and don’t let up until the end of the 1/4. Come off the line at 5,500rpm with 8psi boost and flat-foot shift the rest of the way down… neat feature and make for some quick launches… |

Launch Control: Sounds like a tranny saver too
