The whole purchasing process was a breeze. Didn't have to deal with any dealer options like "Perma-plating", "Appearance Package" and other money making schemes. Actually didn't have to haggle, probably because the new WRX were on their way and my car was actually sitting in their storage unit for a while.
The only problem was when they took my car for a wash, I noticed the they put an extra 40 miles on. Had a feeling the washer took my car to do some errands or something. Overall, I give a 6.5 out of 10.

these people (if that's what you can call them i.e.
) have given me nothing but problems from the day i came back.i bought a used 98 rs from them, and they wrote up a due bill to replace something, when i came back for it, turned out they never ordered it! haggled with them for about 45 minutes to order the damn part until they realized it only cost 12 bucks. of course then they were happy to be of service. then it came time to put new tires on. they'd put these 17" wheels to replace the chipped up 17's that were on there before i picked it up, but i noticed the tires weren't the right size for the wheel. so i got a set of 215/40/17's that fit perfectly, and the damn things started tearing while cornering or hitting dips. turns out they are the wrong offset wheels for my car, and the dealership won't do a thing to fix it. they sold me a car with improper parts and they know it. if i could rate them to the thousandths, i'd give them a 0.001 out of 10 |

So ar I've had a pretty good experience with them. The sales guy I've dealt with is very knowledgeable and low key/no pressure. I've been offered $500 over invoice. Whether that means invoice on the car and extras, I don't know I go back to close the deal today, so I will repost if there are any changes or bait & switch stunts pulled.
If I buy, sounds like from othe posts, I'll avoid their service dept. |

If you love your Subaru, don't take it there for service!!! To do an oil change, when you take your own (full synthetic) oil in, they cut a hole in your splash shield, so they don't have to remove it, and then they use Motorcrap oil (Yuck) to replace the oil. I love Kanga (my Forester) way too much to let them touch it. They take about six weeks, and three complaints, and several follow ups later to install a new one. I went home (about 60 miles up the coast), and changed the oil again myself. As far as purchasing a car, go see Tor Johnson over at Renick Subaru in Fullerton. He'll do right by you, and match or beat the deal you got over in Santa Monica. I'd just as soon see their license to sell Subarus taken away from them!!!!!!!!

OK, I got it from Santa Monica, it was a painless process. There was a little haggling over the price, and I ended up paying a little more than I would have because they tracked a specific one down from another dealer, but not that much more.
I've got to find a better service though, nothing but the dregs from them. I really don't know if I can drive out to Monrovia for Subie Specialists, but the stories about my area (LA) dealers make me cringe. 2002 Silver RS 2.5 Sedan Silver's not so rare, but for some reason, the Silver RS was. ![]() |

Similar experiences... bought mine from them, they were close and met the price quotes I'd gotten elsewhere. I put a couple long posts up about the buying experience (satisfactory, but barely), they'll come up in a search.
I haven't dealt with service yet, but the parts dept. is nothing to write home about... I'll take my car to the local Japan Inc. independent mechanic, I guess. |

Similar to some others, I bought my 2000 Legacy GT Wagon there without much of a problem (probably because the 2001's were in, and they wanted the 2000 off the lot).
HOWEVER, one big gripe I have is that when my factory 6-CD changer broke - they replaced it and sent the broken one to Subaru. I dont know if I blame the dealership, but it's been over 1-year now and they keep giving me the same run-around that it is normal for Subaru to take a long time to send me my CD's that were in the player, but that they WILL send them to me. I wish they would just come out and tell me that my CDs are GONE! |
