Default more interest in EJ20K front clips or EJ20G?

ok. judging on response, it looks like this importing thing for me will probably happen with the first container happening in abut 6 weeks. i'm posting this thread as a red herring of interest and discussion regarding favor of EJ20K vs EJ20G, or both.

EJ20K obviously costs more than EJ20G, but its got its merits. either way it will be a great deal. same deal as before, complete intact front half of car, ready for RHD conversion with AC and climate control.

post your thoughts here.

---i guess i'll be applying for vendor status sooner than i expected.

EJ20K, as long as they are the early JDM ones.

For the money for the RAs, it seems like it would be better to get a V7 or V8

who says im charging bling prices, or bringing RA's

the STi Ej20K had VF23. normal WRX was almost the same but with VF22. some exhaust, up the boost and you'll skunk a VF23 STi.

a version v7/8 is crazy hella money. im not sellign anything thats crazy hell money. PM me if you are seriously interested and i can forward you more details.

if you wanted a EJ207, my friend is selling his version 5 drivetrain. probably a good deal too.

Other than the ej20k being a lil' more powerful, any other major differences? Would there be a big price diff? Anyways, I gotta talk to you in more detail... will track you down.

its a toss up. the 20K is slightly more powerful, has more desirable turbine, and mecahnical heads. the 20G is almost as powerful stock, has quite a respectable turbine (the deadbolt TD05 is the same turbine), HLA heads that arnt as good at 7-8K, but indestructable solid deck block. gearboxes are the same for either, almost all are 4.11

oh yeah, the EJ20G is a significantly cheaper too.

i believe that the last runs of EJ20g (95/96) were open deck. as far as i know, all K's are open deck. the EJ207 went to the semi-closed design.

honestly, if you are concerned about extreme boost pressures, id go with the K motor and then swap in a built bottom end. easier to do that than swap the K heads on the EJ20g. (cheaper too).

all that having said, i drive a EJ20G myself and its pretty damm good at high RPM's

i hope my babling helps confuse you even more than i am confused. :P

95 is the year they had the last of the closed deck ej20g's in the special edition Type RA. The RA's, also dont come with the HLA heads.

I want JDM WRX!

Can you give us an approximate on the cost/power difference of the G to the K? Or does it vary too much car to car?

obviously there'll be a decent variaton of prices, clip to clip. id probably rate a EJ20K clip at a 1.25-35 premium over a EJ20g clip. they simply cost more. the best bang for the buck would be a normal WRX EJ20g. put him in, get a powerFC and turn up the boost to 1.2 bar. that would be FAST. smoke EVO's all day. the K motors are really good though, so its more a matter of preferance. honestly, if on a budget, go with the G.

i think i'll be importing both. kinda like the SR20DET redtop/blacktop, but more dramatic mechanical variation. (and both kick the crap outa the SR20 :P). my EJ20g at .6 bar of boost will smoke the blacktop SR we just swapped in

Moose,

It's my impression that the early WRXs clips (esp type RA and STi versions) are extremely hard to find in decent shape. What kind of availablity are you seeing?

What kind of price range are you thinking of? I got my '95 WRX clip (including nice extras including rear-end and body parts) for $2200 locally just for reference.

HLA's are Hydraulic Lash Adjusters which are on the ends of the rocker arms that push down the valves. They're like little hydraulic pistons at the end which give a sort of 'cushion' i guess onto the valves; no completely solid arm-to-spring contact.

Thats the best description i could give without showing, someone else could prob do better.

2200 bux is a way steal. id jump on that in a jiffy.

my goal is to sell good stuff for quite a fair price. its not going to be hte cheapest - you can flashoptions a clip for $1500 bux +shipping (at your own risk), but its not going to be a rip off, or anything close to a rip off.

i cant post prices, forum rules.

availibility is on and off, right now we're looking at a pair of v3/4 era normal WRX ej20K clips - thats why i posted this thread, if im going to import a clip, its going to be in tip top shape. no smashed screwball stuff. its not that hard to find, just hafto look hard.
