It would suck even more if you bumped a curb with them on.

Sounds like a bad idea. If you curb an aluminum wheel it might bend, but if you do it with one of those it might crack in pieces. Bad idea unless there is some actual metal under there holding it all together IMO.

On a serious note, don't you people know that proper Carbon Fiber is extremly strong? These would be no more dangerous to run than Magnesium or Cast Aluminum wheels.

no CF is not inherently extremely brittle....

Wow, it always amazes me, the amount of materials information out here is astounding. Time is fleeting,

That's bullcrap! I pay $180 for a carbon fiber hockey stick and that crap breaks in 2 like nothing...I remember using aluminum sticks that were bent into all kinds of silly shapes but they would never crack.

It depends on the type of carbon fiber they use. From the picture above it looks to be a standard woven fabric which is fairly strong. I am sure that they don't have the ability or finances to use uni-directional fabric which is extremely strong when combined in the proper fashion of rotated layers. The only time you would have to worry about it shattering is if they use too much resin in the fabrication process or glaze the outer layer to make it shiny for the easily impressed of us. If they use too much, it will crack or shatter which expose the fibers. This will cause the wheel to begin breaking down.

My $0.02 in the world of carbon fabrics.

We had a whole thread on this. Sadly, it's not as promised, or I would have gladly paid for a set.

The true carbon fibre is very strong, it's not like our hoods and trunks.
