Well a few of us were talking about how cool it would be to do a meet/track day. I got in contact with racerjon who runs seat time driving experience. The date would be sept23rd. I pulled some info from his site:
Seat Time Performance Driving Days is the southeast's premier opportunity for automobile enthusiasts, aspiring racers, and licensed racers to take their cars to the track for fun and testing. All that is needed is a car that passes a safety check, and for you to be a licensed driver. If this is one of your first times on the track, Seat Time will provide you with an instructor, and you will attend classroom sessions to help make your experience fun, safe and fast. Seat Time Performance Track Days are at Roebling Road Raceway located just outside of Savannah, GA a Few miles from I-95. This 2.02-mile road course is a fun and exciting automotive playground the more cars that come the cheaper it will be. I know that it is usually 150 for the seat time program. He said the more cars we bring the cheaper it will be. I should have more info in the next few days, let me know if your interested.

Sounds pretty cool if we can get the price down a bit. Rate gas prices are, I'll end up spending twice that just getting there & back; not to mention how much I'd end up burning up on the track.

This sounds like lots of fun, count me in. I'm from Savannah, and only 10 minutes from Roebling road.

I dont have any sat. dates reserved, so yea Friday is all there is now, Roebling is booked pretty much every day of the year, I have the saturday before Easter 2006 if you want though.
The 20 min intervals are the scheduled groups run times, but i usually run ahead a schedule, and fit 1-2 more runs PER group in. Jon K |

Unfortunately with the way gas has gone and the job, I can't afford to spend money on anything non-essential.
Sorry guys. Will have to count me out. |

I would love to go and may. I voted yes but that actually means a big MAYBE. Darkside Motorsports will be making the trek to Atlanta the weekend before for Nopi and we are dumping some money in for EcuTek license and tunes on 3 of our vehicles. Most likely we will be broke but if by some miracle I win the lottery or dish the cash I'll be there. :P

That schedule above came out weird because of copy/paste format...
Registration: 7:00am - 8:30am Tech: 7:30am-8:30am Track touring: 8:15-8:30 (45mph drive around) Drivers Meeting: 8:45am First group off/DE Classroom: 9:00am 9:00am- 12:00pm : rotate through groups 20 min per group 12:00pm-1:00pm: Lunch 1:00pm-5:00pm: Rotate through groups 20 min per group. (that one should work better) Jon K |

Haha....
These track days are a hoot! Myself, Dale Teague, Patrick (whatever his username is on here) and Jane have all been down to run a couple of them. Fairly safe track, and unless your name is Dale or Patrick you probably won't end up with a sand filled car. ![]() |

Ok i am interested and i have a few friends who may want to go as well. So lets get this all locked down.... It will be on Friday Sept. 23rd, Be there around 7:00- 7:30 and will end around 5pm. How much actual track time does each individual get? And lets get a good idea on the price. Is it $150, or will it be less depending on more people? Also we should get a list going for everyone involved, that way we can get an accurate count and figure out the cost.

base price for solo approved is $150. (if you are not solo approved, then its $50 more for the instructor.)
Depending on how many people join up, and pay, it will be less. (still + $50 for instructor though) I will go ahead and say if 5-10 people will sign up and pay/send check before Friday the 16th, its $125 base.. over 10-15 people $115 base.. more than that we can continue to talk. The last 3 events drivers have gotten 120-130 min of seat time, one event this year where an engine was blown and we had a big clean up we still got everyone 100 min each. (this is why the joke about combining groups, as people leave and such, I will combine smaller groups to gain more time for drivers) Jon K |

Alright sounds good, looks like i may be able to afford this one. I have never done it before so im assuming i am gonna have to pay the extra fitty for the instructor. I'll let my friends know about the cost and i'll see what i can do about getting a list of people who are going.
Do you mind if i bring someone along who just wants to watch? He will be riding with me to the track and then just spectating. Is there anything else required besides the entry fee? Im assuming we will need a helmet. |

Yes, if you have never done it (unless by chance you have only done roadracing or SCCA Solo I) then you will need to do the DE group with the instructor.
Please bring friends, wives, whatever, I am always happy to have people watch, and there is a chance we could get them a ride as a passenger with an instructor. Helmet, long sleves long pants, etc.. there is a set of rules on seat-time.com it better explains stuff than i can/should on a forum. Jon K |
