Default weird idle problem. long, but i really need help.

ill try to explain what happens, then describe the problems in detail.

1. when car is started (while still warmed up from driving) car starts, then idle drops to around 100 rpms, isits there for about a second, then moves up to the normal 750 rpms. (its happens VERY often)

2. when car is started for the first time in the morning, the idle its high like it should, then slowly moves down a few houndred rpms, then moves back up, then moves back down (slowly)

about 4 weeks number 1. happened to me once. then it idled fine after that. about a week ago i drove in a VERY heavy rain storm, passing cars splashing tons of water at my car, etc. i pullled over, went into a store, and thats when number 1 started happening again. the next morning i started it up and number 2 happened. number one continued. right now number one is happing and number 2 still happens but it only jumps a little bit. i thought it might be water on the air filter but im running a stock air box and i changed the filter and it still happens. sometimes then i turn it on it setteles right at 750 but most of the time it does whats described above. only mod is an exhaust. what could possibly be wrong? it has to be something with the water because thats when it really started. please help.

Many of our cars get dirty IACV's as they age, and this can show up as irregular idle, either too high or too low. For me, the car idled low, and started stalling. Check out the sticky at the top of the Service and Maintenance Forum. The pic links are broken, but that should be fixed soon. It could be other issues, but cleaning the IACV isn't that hard and could resolve it (just don't open it until you have a replacement gasket).

my car does this when cold, idles up and down within a small range. I've checked for vacuum leaks and the maf is new along with the front 02 sensor. as soon as I drive it for a minute it stops, so I don't worry about it.
