Default Ideas for Muffler....

I'm about to get a crush bent custom exhaust setup, with the borla header, and a HF cat. what would be my best bet for a muffler? I don't want anything too loud, but i definitely want to be able to hear it, i mean right now, my car has really NO exhaust note. any ideas? also, what tubing size does the borla header end up being at the bracket? thanks in advance guys!

all 2.25" will be fine. as for muffler, thats more asthetic. I didnt want the "fart can" hanging off my car so i chose a dual tip one.
here's a pic:

Asthetic

I think the muffler is the most important part of a quality exhaust system. For example, a high-flow strait through design might be incredibly loud with that setup (i.e. headers, high-flow CAT) whereas the stock “highly baffled” muffler will mask volume making it not much louder than stock.

IMHO, I would consider a nice Stromung or similar…

nothing aftermarket will be "highly baffled" though. of course a fart can will be louder, but when you add borlas to the mix, trust me, it'll sound like a subaru.

Bud Brown:

just don't get anything that has a larger than a super-sized tip.

iamrazor:

I'm really digging your exhaust tips. I'll have to lok into something like that when I get the money.

My catback is 2.25" SS with an Apexi N1 NA 90mm muffler and a resonator. I'm running borla headers and a stock cat and the noise is great.

From idle to about 2k rpm it's low and burbly, then starts to increase in pitch and volume slowly to about 3500rpm. From 3500 up it screams.

I bought the car with it installed and initially thought it was too loud, so I got a silencer for the N1. With the silencer installed it is much quieter, but when I installed my CAI I removed the silencer and haven't put it back in because I love the sound.

I just got rid of my fart can and had a Borla Turbo Muffler with an oval tip put on. Looks much better imo, although it's crooked. I'm going to make it to the exhaust shop sometime this week to have it fixed, but until then, I'm happy with it. It has a really low tone, and isn't too loud. I'm using a 2.25" pipe setup with high flow cat, magnaflow resonator, and Borla Muffler with tip. Just note that the 2.25" tip that I ordered doesn't fit over the 2.25" outlet of the muffler...I had it welded on instead, which does just as nice of a job.
